Pearl's Already Gone: The Exit Strategy Hypothesis

During the Fulmer/Kiff/DD saga hambone mentioned more than once that he kept a list of perspective coaches in his desk. I would assume he does the same with basketball or does he?

Ordinarily, and with good reason, I wouldn't make any assertions as to any aspect of his competency. But, I assume he does.

Maybe he started compiling after the Memphis flirtation. I just wonder if he ever thought he would need one.

I think now he keeps a list of schools looking to hire an AD.

No, we say that in a million other ways.

Oh, I know. The inability for many to have a mature discussion or difference of opinion usually results to that and namecalling on here. Makes me wonder if the average age of the posters exceeds 16 at times.

jackwagon!

I just don't see a scenario where you would allow Hamilton to hire your next coach given his track record so far. If Pearl is gone, who is contacting coaches on behalf of the AD? Wouldn't Hamilton rather resign then be terminated?

hammy is safe

hammy is safe

So given Hamilton's track record of hiring coaches, none of which have lasted in basketball, football, or baseball, and Dooley being TBD at this point: do you let Hamilton hire your next men's basketball coach? Just seems like Hamilton would get his walking papers IMO.

He is the AD and will continue to be.

Jay Wright, Mike Anderson, and Danny Manning, imo, imho.

would be the only upgrade over what we have now, imo.

The OP makes good points, but I still think cbp is back.

It defies logic for UT to go through the turmoil of this season just to fire/force him to resign after the season.

those guys sound good but id like to have brad stevens imo hed be a good coach for ut.

Brad Stevens would not be qualified to sweep up after the horse carrying the rider who held the envelope containing these three names.

Not even in the conversation.

The Tennessee system is so screwed up Hamilton doesn't really have a "boss" right now.

He answers to Haslam. As long as he's happy, Hamilton is safe.

The football program stinks. If I paid attention the baseball program, I would be disgusted. If Pearl is forced to make the walk of shame, it pretty well states that the basketball program ain't in very good shape either.

I'm not sure how the Director of Men's Athletics survives when the top three items on his job description are all in shambles.

Not at all.
