Pearl's Already Gone: The Exit Strategy Hypothesis

You mean like a dirty look or a sympathetic look?

he already gets plenty of the former.

I find it highly unlikely his success at a place that has never had it is going unnoticed, whether he's had less restrictive means available to him than the previous coaches there is of no material importance, imo.

If I'm an AD looking for a coach in the big 6 plus MWC, CUSA, and A10, he'd get an interview.

So what about his success, or lack thereof, at his first two stops in major conferences? Ten years, one tournament birth.

Tenacious D: True most people have an opinion and yours is noted. I would think that trying to value yours as with being an hypothesis is somewhat over the top. I for one do not believe there is a word of truth in it. UT is not stupid. I think when they reduced BP salary they were showing NCAA that they were willing to police their institution. We all agree that cheating is not condoned. However, there are degrees of cheating. From what I have read BP cheating does not reach the level of cheating that has been proven by past incidents. Telephone calls to recruits from coaching staffs are the norm. If you don't think so than let us have investigation of all of the programs nation wide and let us see what falls out. Had BP let his interview with the NCAA stand that could have been lying, but he amended his statments before conclusions where reached. I believe that in a court of law that would not be perjury. From My experience in being a studen at UT over 50years ago and following UT for these many years I believe that UT keeps Coach Pearl and moves on . I do believe that the name of VolNation should be change to NEGAVOLS!

+1

so intentionally breaking the rules of your profession and then lying about them is not cheating?

Opinions are like A-HOLES EVERYBODY HAS ONE.All i am saying is no one was bought and no gifts exchanged hands. If that had happened we would have Craft and Selby and our season would have been a little different possibly.Yeah he broke the rules but i don't think that is cheating because Tennessee did'nt benefit from it. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!

He did a good enough job at SH to warrant the Michigan gig. A lot of folks were really high on his teams back then, was able to recruit very good players.

He got hit with the fallout at Michigan and had to run a tight ship, cleaned up the image of the program immensely.

Kudos!

Great negavol thread just as the team tries to get ready for the Tournament. You could just as well start this thread after we are out of the tournament. This is like having a fifth column within our fanbase. We don't need opponents we have negavols.
writer32 said they needed some fuel to make a run.

So if I cheat off of the person sitting next to me on a test and get an F because the person I cheated off of is stupid, I didn't really cheat because it didn't benefit me?

Who hired Dooley? Didn't we go through this scenario last season? If Hamilton isn't hiring coaches, then he sure does talk a good game about the process he went through.

From GVX on January 15th, 2010 (see bold):

"Multiple media sources are reporting that the former Louisiana Tech head coach has agreed to replace Lane Kiffin, who left UT for Southern California on Tuesday, and a deal is imminent. Several other media sources are indicating it is not a done deal.

A 1981 Dassault Falcon airplane registered to Pilot Corp. was photographed at the Ruston (La.) airport this afternoon, amid reports that UT athletic director MIke Hamilton and booster Jim Haslam are in Ruston where the Louisiana Tech campus is located."

you should give an assist to Johnny Majors....

He's on my list of people I would like. Originally from Texas though, don't know if he'd be interested in leaving A&M.

Where is everyone getting his Texas ties from? Turgeon is Kansas born and raised and attended KU. I'd imagine he'd be on KU's short list if it ever came to that.

so if it's not cheating then what do you call it when someone knowingly breaks the rules of their profession?

I read that somewhere. Obviously wrong after relooking into it.

He just moved up my list.

Has anyone on this board stop to think what happen to Florida when Billy D blinked a few years back on leaving Florida to take a pro job. Recruiting went to hell. They have been fighting to get backto where they were before that espisode. Roy williams has not been able to put NC at the top in 5 years. Changing coaches at UT might be end of basketball for UT for 2 to 3 decades. We are not at the top of high school recruits lists.
All they have to do is look at posts on boards like this one and decide that they want no part of this program!

North Carolina won the national championship two years ago. At least have some grasp of the facts you try to use.

When the Vols lose to Michigan on Friday, we'll all know why.

That would be a much better time for a negative thread like this. The team deserves support and encouragement right now. Chicken Little can do his stuff after the tournament results. If we go deep, it will be interesting to see the posts. Not that I expect us to go dep, but it would be great.

You know, I haven't considered these points - all valid, I might add.

Could you elaborate on your last three sentences?

It won't matter if they sweep the '96 Bulls.

You can't unring some bells.
