Pelosi Must Go

I’m not in the habit of saying that Nancy Pelosi is right. But if she wants to visit Taiwan next month as part of a congressional delegation to several countries in the Indo-Pacific, she really ought to go. Canceling the trip now would be a capitulation to tyranny.

Canceling now would mean that Congress buckled in the face of Chinese threats and the Biden administration wavering. It would establish the principle that Beijing has veto power over the travel plans of senior U.S. officials. It would tell the world that America is more interested in mollifying Xi Jinping than in supporting the democratically elected Tsai Ing-wen. It would be another example of self-deterrence, Biden-style. And America would be weakened.

If she really wants to go as some form of idealism, I would remove Taiwan from the official itinerary. Make the rest of the trip. On the way home, have an "emergency" on board while the closest land mass is Taiwan, and be forced to make an "emergency landing" for repairs. Repairs take a couple days, and then leave.

The CCP is our real peer enemy. The pathetic Russians are nothing but delegated to be the proxy fighter for a real power. Heck, if they cannot handle Ukraine...they aint doing squat with NATO. But by golly it stretches our military commitments.
Of course the Trump tariffs were so egregious that many on here were horrified. Pivot East has been in play for 15 years now, spending trillions in defense, yet still maintaining this economic status..so we lose on both fronts.
We dang set ourselves up for this.

When Xi the red was issuing China Joe his orders on the phone today I bet old Joe had to change his depends after he hung the phone up. Once the chicoms threatened to shoot the hag’s plane down Joe should have immediately said that instead of Pelosi making the trip he himself would. At this point, if Pelosi doesn’t go it shows we are succumbing to the threats of a despot and it will be China Joe’s Tehran moment. He’s already surpassed many of Carter’s failures and embarrassments so what’s one more?

Dear God... so it's all about saving face. Optics over diplomacy and pragmatism. We really have morons out here that think provoking yet another nuclear super power is worth it if it means maintaining this ridiculous and outdated image.

Or, it will show that we are finally acting like pragmatic human beings. Only a lunatic would try to call aa rival nuclear power's bluff. Only a madman would try to call two nuclear powers' bluff at the same time.

I don't know about some of you people. This wouldn't just be a dumb move if Pelosi goes. It would be a disaster.

Yeah, that’s what too many said about stopping Hitler early on as well. China will not risk going to war with us now because they understand they would suffer a humiliating and disastrous defeat. Unless we rise to the challenge though, in 5 years they won’t be so reluctant.

The only disaster would be for her not to go now and for us to allow the chicoms dictate to us where and when we can travel. But you are incapable of understanding that as you cower in fear.

The chicoms have had nukes since 1964. Thanks to Clinton they developed modern ICBMs that could reach us accurately in the 90’s. I’ll give you credit though, you quickly doubled down on your cowardice. If we go to war against the chicoms and it went nuclear, the reds wouldn’t get their nukes out of their silos. Well, as long as China Joe is lucid and willing to follow the oplan.
