This is one of those days I am very happy not to be a product of the Tennessee public school system.

Yes it is. State College is home of Penn State University. They're pretty decent academically so it's likely that most of the people living around the community have been exposed to events, seminars, speeches, etc of various subjects designed to increase awareness. Virtually all or most academic communities are like this.

Also, it is likely as a coach and member of the NCAA, Paterno has had to attend awareness seminars designed to inform and teach coaches, educators, administrators about improper sex relationships and the signs to look for in potential victims.

I think allowing that to go on invites pedophiles to the scene. Just my opinion. I'm not saying you were abused or touched. I just don't think that should ever be allowed.

I do not think one should tailor their every action because there might be bad individuals in the world. Boy Scouts invites pedophilia. Daycares invite pedophilia. Letting your child sleep over at someone else's house invites pedophilia.

I think those are quite different. Men showering naked with naked little kids is different than Daycare and Boy Scouts. Surely you can see that.

According to the phrase "inviting pedophilia" I do not see much of a distinction.

I would say that visiting Santa Claus in the mall is more of a way to invite pedophilia than taking a shower in the open showers of the Y with your dad.

Child rape is what it is, pedophilia I;m guessing has a much broader definition. Assuming Paterno was an expert on pedophilia or enjoyed reading about the subject in the papers, or attended awareness seminars on campus, or made it the subject of dinner conversation is pretty ridiculous.
