I was reading the comments and came across this one, the bold I added:
Yes. If you (darwin and therealut) can activate the part of your brain to defend someone who abets a child raper, therapy might not work. There are a couple of tried and true tactics they are using to sort this thing out:
1) He broke no rules and, therefore, did nothing wrong. 2) Mike McQueary should have done more. 3) Rant against others - media, Bobby Bowden (volnation), the kids themselves, attorneys, and 4) Focus on other aspects of story - Sandusky, et al.
None of these points make Joe Paterno's ineffectual response to a boy getting raped inside of his football facilities any less sickening. And then, to let the predator run amok for nine more years with access to an office inside of your football facility. Something much deeper is going on here and Paterno's vilification is, sadly, deserved.
I guess enablers think the same everywhere.
