Penn State scandal (merged)

try being here. what a freaking night...sheesh. I imagine it was like k-town when Kiffin bolted.

Are you actually there?

And no. It was a couple hundred drunk rednecks who were just upset a football coach left in the middle of the night, and wanted to set fire to something. They didn't throw over station trucks.

Oh man, Tom Farrey said they are throwing bottles and rocks at the cops right now. Dear Lord.

They already turned over a media van and are breaking car windows and breaking into places. The riot is getting bigger. Thanks for a classy exit Joepa. Think if they would have let you wokr longer this would have been worse.

Just a quick opinion about the riots.

I think they are really, really upset about it b/c Joe Pa said he would step down to basically coach one more home game, and they said "Nope, sorry." And that's why they are upset.

Stupid, but still.

Tom Farrey said it's basically a war zone.

Making the police targets.

Not a big fan of cops, but dear Lord have some respect.

Wow, I never thought I'd see the day when ESPN commentators made poignant comments. Big ups to Stu for the making the point that this is really about the kids who were victimized. Students would be wise to remember that themselves. They can be outraged about the firing if they want, but they should show proper respect that a MAJOR crime was committed and covered up. Out of respect for the victims and their families, they need to go home and let it go. Find another way to express your feelings.

With all the terrible things going on with College football as of late, this is the most heartbreaking story I have dealt with in my lifetime.

Most importantly we all feel for the victims in this. I also hate it for JoePa. He is a man of integrity and I hate to see him go out this way. I truly feel had he known what was going on he would have dealt with it, I'm just not sure he knew the magnitude of the situation. As a head football coach in D1 you have so many things going to deal with on a daily basis.

Who would have thought this past saturday was the last time he would ever be on the sidelines. This will kill him inside, I bet he doesn't make it to the new year.

JoePa wanted to coach out the season, more than just one game. They can say he should be allowed to coach one more game all they want but he still thinks he did nothing wrong.
