I think his wife had alot to do with it! Wants to be a singer and feels LA will help her!

Yeah, because it's not like Tennessee has any cities that are big on music...oh wait. No, it seems to me that Tee's wife being selfish screwed this up and cost him what could possibly be his only chance to coach at his alma mater which he wanted badly. Thanks Tee's wife, hope you feel good about yourself. Good luck to you Tee, I still hope to see you back in orange one day.

Quick, someone get Jim Bob Cooter on the phone. The flavor of this staff isn't orange enough for me!

It's a a business decision, yes. But after this, I hope Tennessee never offers Tee another coaching job. Doesn't deserve another chance to come back here. Have fun at USC, Tee. Don't come back.
+1. I also hope his bud, Kiffy gets run out of town and him left wishing he had taken the offer. Kiffin is on the hotseat.

As long as Tee continues to progress into the coach he can be this won't be his only opportunity.

Agree..but it has to be the right fit..little ones play a huge role in the decision..this comes in the middle of a school year..Tee is a family guy..it's not always about money!

Has to be the right fit? Are you serious? If any place is the right place for Tee Martin, Tennessee is it. Can we just call this what it is? This is personal and it looks horrible on Tennessee and looks horrible to recruits in regard to Tennessee. Tennessee's own NC QB didn't take the job and elected to remain in Lane Kiffin's shadow. It's a slap in the face to all Vol Fans. There is no reason Tee should have made this public if he knew he likely wasn't going to take the job. Do a phone interview, respectively decline over the phone and keep it private to allow Tenn to save face. Tee Martin publicly rejected Tennessee and it is what it is.

No, I don't doubt for a second that it won't be his last opportunity but it could potentially be his last one HERE. At least for a while anyway.

Tee has a good thing going at USC, Bilentikov receiver to coach. He wants to see it through and be considered later for a position at UT. It's his life and career. Dooley and Hart blew our chance to get him when he was available. I'll remain hopeful to see Tee on our staff in the future. And I'll remember the great things he did when he played.

Realistically: Of course Tee isn't to blame. He made the right call. If you take off your orange glasses, coming here would be a step down. Simple as that. He is responsible for a number of big recruits coming to SC right now, and one of his kids just won the Biletnikoff trophy.

Come on. This is the most ignorant thing I have heard. Fans like you give real vol fans a bad name.
He made a decision based on his current situation. How can you blame him for not wanting to move again? Its not like TN is the place to be right now. Have you seen our teams the past 6 years?
We should have offered him a job last year before uscw did. If you want to be mad at someone blame it on Dooley. He could have hired him the past two years and didn't.

You are taking this too hard. He wanted to meet Jones face to face, get his wife's input with her visiting the area, and then think about it. He didn't string us along or use us. I wish him the best and hope that someday, he can come back when the time is right for him.

If we had thrown enough $$$ at Tee, he would be here. It IS business. I'm so sick of coaches turning us down.

If they would have thrown out more money at the start we could have had a home run hire as head coach. Its par for the course with Hart!

Guess we will get yet another high profile assistant coach that's Butch Jones is best friends with from that juggernaut Auburn team!!!

<sarcasm off>

Folks, we have GOT to get some different people in our administration.

Where did these people get their PR experience?!?

It's beyond awful how they handle the public perception of Tennessee.

The question is how much money would have been enough?

CBJ and the AD have business considerations as well.

Since all of these salaries are public record, every other coach on the staff would know what he was getting paid. They have equity issues to consider as well as managing the morale of the rest of the TEAM of coaches.

Further, he may be a great coach, but there has to be an ROI on everything. Is he going to make that big of difference in the big picture? He may be the fan favorite, but will it truly equate to better players wearing orange and more wins on Saturday?

It's always easy to spend money when it's not yours and you have no responsibility for the outcome.

You sound like a little kid who whines when he doesn't get his way. Tee Martin helped UT win a NC. He's welcome back anytime.
