Peyton Manning to miss entire season

my point is to ask a person who claims to be a UT/titans fan. You're claiming the same set of fans but force them to make a choice

Gotcha. I'd say Vols would have the edge but not by as much as you think. A lot of people just enjoy the NFL more.

do you get CBS, ABC and NBC? They all show games too so that would be 5 possible game at any given time on a Sat. Compare that with one in a targeted market and see if there is a difference in your opinion

It occurs often that the 3:00 PM CBS slot is not countered by NBC or ABC much less both. On the other hand, Fox and CBS do both carry NFL games every Sunday.

The team issued a statement Thursday afternoon saying:

"Peyton has undergone this surgery today by having a single level anterior fusion. The surgery was un-eventful.

"Therefore, there will be no estimation of a return date at this time. We will keep Peyton on the active roster until we have a clearer picture of his recovery process.

"Peyton will immediately begin the rehabilitation regimen mapped out by the surgeon. We anticipate no further updates or availabilities beyond those required by the NFL Media Policy for the immediate future."

What they didn't say says a lot.

Hope he is able to atleast play this year. I want Peyton to retire with every Big passing record, even though I hate the Colts.

if UT fans were asked if they'd rather watch a UT game or a titans one what do you think most UT fans would say?

I think a majority of them would answer that based on which team is having the better season at the time. But, there's a reason college football stays away from Sundays.

the point is there are a very large number of options on a Sat (heck even including local FCS games) while that does not exist for the NFL. Higher ratings in Nashville for a titans game is not comparable to ratings for a national broadcast of a UT game. Not even close

You said people who are both UT and Titans fans, not just UT fans. Many prefer the NFL.

I don't know why thats so weird to you. The NFL is much, much better quality of football than college. Most really hardcore "x's and o's" football nerds prefer NFL for that very reason.

A person who claims to be a UT fan and a titans fan is given the choice to watch only one of those games in a week. Which do you think they choose?

Depends on who you ask. I bet the vast majority of East TNers pick the Vols. The farther west you go, that ratio decreases.

According to Nashville sports shows, the Titans have higher ratings in Knoxville than the Vols. What is the logic which explains this?

It's not a knock on TN. The Vols have a huge following for a college football team, but it's like comparing apples to oranges when comparing the popularity of any college football team to a NFL team. It's similar to comparing AAA baseball to major league baseball.

then surely you can pull a link to these numbers

Why is it so hard to understand that the NFL pummels everything else in ratings?

The friggin Presidential Address is happening early to avoid NFL kickoff tonight.

because this was never about the NFL vs college it was the fact people claimed more people were titans fans in TN than UT

Are the Arizona Wildcats more popular than the Cardinals in AZ? :p

while I was there I can assure you ASU and UofA had more people in the stands and watching on tv than the Cards. Except when the Cowboys or Raiders showed up and bought them tickets up

What can we go off of besides TV ratings? I think it's close, but Vols by a slight margin.

What percentage of Vols fans are Titans fans? 70-80%? Then add Southern Kentucky, and Northern Alabama and it's pretty damn close.

Age and experience dependent. If you have been a vol fan for many years, but became a Titans fan when they hit Nashville, its obvious.

Interesting stuff. Had me totally fooled.

Anyway, Colts suck. Suck even worse without PM. :hi:
