Are you kidding? They will be Kerry Collins bad which is first pick bad.No passing game, running game, and cant stop the run. They will be terrible.

They will not be worse than the Bengals or Panthers. Collins will win them enough games to ensure they don't get the 1st overall pick.

If PM is done in the league then its a matter of time before Public Office comes calling. Those of us hoping for a new OC will be saddened to hear the news of him following in HS shoes. PM realistically could be POTUS....you heard it here first. Is he Demmy or Republic minded ????

PM is singularly minded. His life is football, not politics.

Back to the topic, I have a friend that had this very same surgery and his doctor told him that it would be a year before he can do anything because it HAS to heal in full because if anything happened to jerk his neck it could come apart and the piece put in would very well hit the spine and cause paralization. He said he asked his doctor and the doctor said that there is no way Peyton should play this year because getting hit by someone like Harrison or another big D player would def end a career and cause a problem. I hope it is not true and wish him the best but no need to rush this thing.

Unless I'm mistaken he donates to the GOP. I doubt he'll enter the realm of politics though, seeing as he could make loads upon loads of money doing TV work.

I'm really sad to see things happen like this to him.

Really? Like, really sad?

I'm not concerned with it one little bit. I guess if I were a Colts fan, I might care. But the guy has lived the dream. He's one of the best in the history of the sport, he's got a beautiful family, he's got tens of millions (hundreds of millions?) of dollars, and he will never want for anything. Neither will his children or his grandchildren.

He's been blessed beyond imagination.

So no, I'm not really sad about it.

Not really.

Seeing as to how he turned down more money on his contract, I'd say that's the least of his worries.

The colts might have lucked out with this development.Without Manning the colts could easily end up with the worst record in the league. If that happens they get to draft Andrew "my avatar" Luck.Manning plays a couple more years then Luck takes over.I do want to wish Peyton a full recovery.

As much as I would want that, since Collins is playing no way they win only 2 or 3 games. No doubt Peyton is the most valuable player in the league but there are several pro bowlers on the team and maybe multiple HOFers. 12-4? No way. 7-9? possible.

I'm a huge Peyton Manning fan but I would have to agree with this statement. He won a Superbowl (that some elite QB's never did in their careers), financially his family is beyond set, got to play 12+ seasons in the NFL as a starting QB (never had to ride the bench), NFL MVP x 4, future NFL Hall of Fame spot, and can basically decide to do whatever he wants to do for the rest of his life (coach, tv commentator, businessman, or just spend time with his family).

Here's a good article on the Manning's and the story of his older brother who never got to play football in college/NFL: http://www.sptimes.com/2004/11/07/Sports/The_other_Manning.shtml

It's amazing how complete non-factual things such as this get circulated. He turned down money? Yeah..... ok.

ummm....yeah he did. He will make it back up, but in his contract he did turn down money.

On a side note, I saw on sportcenter that the Colts are taking it month by month.

That's how I heard it spun, but I remembered it differently. I remembered a front loaded contract that didn't really help their cap space in the near future, rather than a higher amount that was spread out more evenly over the course of 5 years.

Collins is a 6 pack away from helping them tank the season.

If they lose Peyton for the year.. they will still manage at a minimum of 4 wins. Too much talent not too.

I agree, now if Painter were at QB I would say 4 wins is possible. With Collins and the talent around him 7 to 9 wins is possible. Collins has never had this many offensive weapons around him.
