Peytons supporting cast

He was far from terrible. He got harrassed every time he dropped back. If anyone was terrible it was his o-line. His WR's also got owned.

He was pretty bad. It was a total team suck effort, but he certainly did not play well at all.

34/49 (70%), broke Brady and Brees record of 32 completions in SB, put DThomas in SB record books w 13 catches.

His D forced 1 punt and got zero turnovers. Think about that.

Manning ran into a buzz saw and did all right. Don't throw him under the bus.

LOL at touting any SB records after that game.

No one is "throwing him under the bus", just being fair. He's had a parade of praise for the past 2 weeks, and he and the rest of the Broncos got their butts handed to him. None of them played well, but he's the star of the team. He's going to get the most criticism, it comes with the territory.

He wasn't "terrible". Hell where was his help? Defense couldn't stop a dadgum thing. Offensive can't block. Recovers fumble balls. What else you want the man to do? Run the ball? Play safety? Play special teams?

Dude, Justin Worley thinks Manning sucked tonight.

2 interceptions a fumble and a passer rating of 73.5. Not Manning's best showing.

He did EVERYTHING he could tonight. 2 of "his" turnovers were not his fault at all. Pick six and fumble are both COMPLETELY on the O-line. His first pick was his fault, bad pass, he blinked, not good all around. No blame can be put on him for this, he did everything he could. Determined Seahawks team vs. a dead Broncos team spelled loss.

Dude completes 70 percent of his passes against one of the best Pass Defenses the League has ever seen, has almost 300 yards, throws one interception I'll give to him, one that is because he was made into a sandwich, and he didn't play well? Gosh, I wonder what better quarterbacks would have done against that defense, with his O-line.

His supporting cast didn't have 3 turnovers, he did. All 3 were on him and other throws could have been picked. He could have topped off the greatest season EVER for a QB. This stinks.

Most of his stats were in garbage time. That offense looked lost in the first 3 quarters and it started with him.

Peyton didn't have his greatest game but the Broncos were tight the whole game and the Seahawks played lose and with a "nothing to loose" mentality. The Broncos defense and special teams were pathetic. This was one of those meant to be games for the Seahawks.

Of course Peyton will get the blame for the loss but his performance was not the worst of the guys in orange.

Seems to me that over the years he hasn't had big time talent surrounding him-that he made average or mediocre players better. Moreno is an example as are a few others. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he had Kent and Nash to throw to but they weren't what they were without him. Now, I think Faulk was good and he clicked with Harrison but other than Jamal when he was a frosh Manning has been making his own success!

Nice feel good post. You win or lose as a team. Our Volgod is simply proof of that. Never heard him make excuses either way. His name is Manning, you know.

Gentlemen, defense wins football games. p.e.r.i.o.d.

I followed P Manning's recruitment out of HS. I saw him play as a freshman in Neyland. I think he's the greatest (or at least of the top 5) of all time, but defense wins championships.

For this reason, I wanted him to go to SF. They have a much better defense and more weapons on offense.

We had Peyton for 4 years - 1 SEC championship and no national championship.

Last night reminded me of his Sr. year against Fla when he threw for 400+ yards and still lost. You just saw an undersized, lightly recruited, heavily doubted QB win a Super Bowl. Why? Good game manager who plays with a great defense and good special teams. He also has a very good RB.

Defense wins championships.

I agree with your overall point here, but Peyton was absolutely terrible tonight and he had one of those games where he just absolutely choked.

When the first play of the superbowl is your center snapping the ball into the endzone for a safety..its a sign that its going to be a rough night.

lol

Manning has had fantastic supporting casts around him for the majority of his career.

Perhaps on offense, but the only decent defensives he's had is when he went to the SB. Denvers D was pretty weak this year minus the NE win. Coincidence?

Um, the WR fumbled? And wasn't one of the picks tipped at the line? He had a bad night but your opening statement is incorrect.

Manning is an AFC type guy. This game shows how weak the AFC has become. Broncos would have been 4th or 5th best team in NFC.

Yeah... Reggie Wayne sure looked like crap with a garbage QB in 2011 and a rookie QB in 2012. Except, he looked about the same as when Peyton was his QB.

Peyton is good no matter his receivers.

Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne would be good no matter their QB.

Tonight... Peyton put 8 points on the board. 8...

Considering he dropped back 50 times to pass(49 pass attempts, 1 rush/sack that was supposed to be a pass) and they ran the ball 13 times... who the hell do you think is at fault for putting 8 points on the board? Seriously... he gave up 7 on an interception. Best case scenario, he put his team over the top by winning 8-7. Unfortunately, they gave up 43. He still only put 8 points on the board when he continually gave the ball to himself. He's as much at fault as anyone for only scoring 8 points. Dropping back 50 times and putting 8 points on the board... gross.

No.

Only the Seahawks and 49ers were better.

They're just that superior to everyone else.

Though, I do agree the Patriots and Chiefs are very overrated and not very good. I do think the Broncos were that good. Peyton just stunk it up last night.

Broncos gave up 17 points to Rivers and 16 points to Brady.

Yeah, that's a pretty terrible defense... but not really.

He was bad but the team was worse.

Debatable.

He stat padded to make his numbers look less than atrocious.

As the Broncos were getting blown out, he already had like 2 interceptions, 1 fumble and 0 points on the board with like a passer rating of 40.

Peyton did nothing until the game was already well out of hand.

that statement would be made no matter who is around him because he is going to make them look great. that is what great quarterbacks do.

That was my point. Without Manning some of those recievers would notbhave become names many of us think about nor would they have become as good. Any hall-of-famers?

NFC is more physical. Broncos on par with saints. The only qb that can do damage to Seattle's d is a kaepernick Or luck. A pocket passer is a sitting duck.

Why do people have to completely embarrasssss themselves with comments like this.

Looked normal to me on ONE play. A UT Grad DE still hasn't seen a x UF Back run by him....where did he go??
I thot I wuz watching a UT=UF game in the swamp....where one teams Defense kicks another teams ass and makes them like it.....all the while the dumber than dirt fan base blames the QB for choking :eek:lol:

IF you don't like Peyton, fine, but to say he choked makes you look real bad.

Defense wins championships and idiot fanbases worries about recruiting QBs and WR and running backs.

Wonder how many Pro Draftboards and meeting today and discussing Defense and not QBs. Johnny Football the first pick............sadley some idiot will probably make the call.
