Here's the thing. You wonder why not just say the name of the team, right? I have two theories. One, he figured everyone would know who he was talking about. And two, he wasn't trying to jeopardize any future employment. He is an assistant. Probably didn't want the 'snitch' tag. lol
Or he knows his accusations are a little weak.

Sure, that's possible, but I wouldn't recommend a challenge...just in case. I mean, she did end up in TN. Whoever the team, all they need to do is let the player hit the portal first and avoid suspicion or even worse an NCAA investigation.

Ms. Wells is a strong addition to our team, your not adding someone equal to what we already have, your adding experience, more scoring, and hopefully a better turenover ratio. I still would like to have a 6' and up guard that has length, can play elite defense, have great speed, and can light it up from 3. Why 6', in addition to the aformention reasons, I believe we have to upgrade our backcourt to compete with and counter the SC and LSU backcourt. Finally, if our gaurds are going to drive to the basketball amongts the trees, I would think a larger guard would provide us less turnover, and more scoring possibilities when the opportunities presents itself.

Her lowest scoring games and most notably, lowest shooting percentages were against some of the better competition. Which is like, duh, of course it's harder against better teams. But this player seems to be constantly improving plus she's never had teammates like she's about to have. So reasonable to think she will step that level of performance up.

She's such a logical fit and this feels right. I'm delighted it happened so quickly. I know her coach is upset, and it that the is tough that the best mid major players get taken. But if the Belmont coach got a P5 job offer, I bet he'd be all over it.
Plus she is the focal point she was her teams best player so of course the good teams gone key in on her, she don't have to be the best player she don't need to score 19pts a night they not gone focus on stopping her ..

Are you talking about Alexis Morris (5’6”)? Or Poole at (5’8”). Or Cooke at (5’9”) ? Are these players big enough? 🤷‍♂️. These three are pretty good guards ….

Yep I love the lineup of Wells, Powell, Darby, Jackson, Key

Second string

Miles, Wynn, Pissott, Puckett/Striplin, Hollingshed

I think we will see Karo at the 4 more next season compared to the 5. Love her outside shot if she can hit it consistently.
With a full off season, I believe Pissott would add more scoring and defense than Darby and/or maybe Powell. Pissott could also backup either or both of them. I guess we will see after Summer and Fall workouts how everything works out. We coul slap pick up another player from the portal.

This is a huge get for the LVs. (Destinee also shows there are great players in the State of TN and the coaching staff has to identify them, recruit them, and get to commit.). I believe the core of Rickea, Tamari, Jillian, and now Destinee will be formidable next season. I am pumped. GBO.
We need more, if this is the final roster we will be in trouble.

I'm not exactly sure how ESPN came to that conclusion. Here's how Wells did against NET top 50 teams this year:
  • Louisville: 20 points, 7-10 FGs, 1-1 3FGs, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 turnovers
  • MTSU: 5 points, 2-3 FGs, 1-1 3FGs, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 turnovers
  • Iowa: 9 points, 4-17 FGs, 0-4 3FGs, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 turnovers
  • Villanova: 16 points, 5-10 FGs, 1-2 3FGs, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 7 turnovers
  • Georgia: 12 points, 3-7 FGs, 3-7 3FGs, 2 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 turnovers
She had a rough shooting night against Iowa and turned the ball over against Villanova. Otherwise, this looks pretty darn solid to me. That's 45% shooting and 40% 3pt. shooting with a 1.4 A/TO ratio against some really good teams.

So when she went up against a big time guard in Clark she came up small.

I don’t think that’s true, big time players step up in big time games, they don’t come up small. U can be optimistic if u want but I’m being realistic.

So Wells PG and Powell moves to SG next yr.
Don't think so. My guess is Powell and Wells (PoWells?) split time at PG like Walker and Powell did this yr, occassionally playing together. I'd expect more of mins to go to Wells as the season goes on since she'll have another year. I hope the next portal move is a very good shooting guard who would split time or start in place of Tess.

My lineup is Wells/Powell, New Guard Rickea, Jill, and TK. Justine and Tess back up new guard, Justine and Sara for Rickea, Strip for Jill and/or Key. Miles and Wynn situational subs. if we take another portal player it should be a very young post willing to wait.

Seriously, is there another thread about Wells? Not seeing anything on page one.

Edit: If a thread is posted by someone on ignored list, does that mean the entire thread is hidden?

You are still thinking about the old style way of recruiting. Put freshmen on the bench.

Now days, take the experienced transfers. Think of it as having a minor league baseball team. Pick up the ones who developed as a 19 / 20 year old.

Playing 10-12 early isn't an issue. But, we do need to tone down the schedule....a lot.

Learn from Mulkey. Can't stand her, but she knows how to win. Creampuff scheduling.
Not talking about high school vs portal recruiting at all. Talking about how many transfers we take. I'm a broken record here, I do not want an overstuffed roster again. Lean, trim and crisp from Day 1 for this team. No chemistry issues, no role learning,no crazy lineup experiments EVER, a moderately pared back pre season schedule and we're ready. IMO our current players Darby, Pissiot, Puckett and Striplin deserve the opportunity to carve out a good role as backups or more. Let's go!

Darby and Striplin were starters. Puckett played quite a bit. I don’t understand what overstuffed roster means.
If we have six open scholarships, how do you want to use them?
