Phil Fulmer to (fill in the blank) thread...merged

As much as I'm glad we've changed direction as far as Vol coaching staff, this joke got old for me years ago. To be honest, I've never seen a joke this lame recycled so much...it was barely amusing the first time, and now it's about as interesting as scraping your fingernails down a chalk board.

Please...let it go.

Ditto:good!:

Fulmers coaching days are over unless Lane decides at some point to hang em up and head to USC to replace Pete Carroll and Hamiltopn is no longer theAD. Then possibly Tennessee allows Phil to come back for a short tenure i.e. Bill Snyder at Kansas St

You know how people say "Never, say never."?

I'm saying NEVER.

Teams can have that 1-2 year stretch where they do great. I'm talkin about that "next level". When your schools name is mentioned with the...Tennessee's, UF's, Texas', etc. I know you wanted to impress people with a "jab" at someone, but next time look a little more indepth at a comment. Cincy has a great chance at becoming a great consistant football team, but what happenes when savior Kelly is gone? Do they bring in someone new? or maybe go with someone thats established. Thats my
question.

Cincy is 33-6 over the last 3 years. Big East conference champions the last 2 years.
They finished 2007 # 22 , 2008 # 12 and are currently # 3 in the BCS. They are in the upper level of college football.

They're having a good run, for sure. But they're not a top program by any means. If you saw that Pitt game Saturday, you know they would have lost as many as four or five games in the top conferences with that defense.

Cincinnati is NOT in the upper level of college football. They haven't played anyone, with the exception of Oklahoma, for the past 3 years. They got blown out of that game. Until they can get some teams like Florida, USC, Texas, OSU, Tennessee, etc on their schedule consistently and WIN some of those games, they will not be considered seriously to be in the upper echelon of college football. If they can either beat Florida or even lose the Sugar Bowl by less than a touchdown, it will be a good start.

I wouldn't believe any BCS school or any mid-major D1A program with the championship aspiration would seriously consider Phillip Fulmer. I can only see D1A bottom feeders and desperate losers would give him a chance.

If things keep going the way they are, we might have a job for him at UT. We had great WRs during his tenure. He should put in for that job!

I highly doubt he would come on board to be CLK's b*&ch, much less that CLK would even let him on the staff.

Phil had his time, he was a great coach. WAS

The game has passed him up. He may have a shot in a Socon or Conference USA at best. His style of football cleary won in the 80's and 90's but college football is different these days and he refuses to adjust to it. Thats my take on it. :peace2:

Yep, put them in the SEC and they'd be somewhere around Ole Miss...get some love, but play inconsistently.

Fulmer will get a job somewhere, just like Spurrier did at South Carolina.

Spurrier was about the same age as Fulmer is when he got the USC job. If it wasnt for Lou Holtz campaigning the school to look at Spurrier he might've gone a year or two more out of college football.

Fulmer would be a great fit at Marshall. They can pass a turkey sandwich through their admissions and he can put in place a good team there.

You know, when Fulmer was first fired, I felt bad for him, I wanted a change, but here was a man that played and coached at UT, a dream for many here, and he was just canned, it was a little sad.

Fast forward to today, every time I hear his name, whether it be on a message board or elsewhere, any good will I had for him winning us the NC is chipped away, to the point today that I can't stand him anymore.

Fulmerites need to understand that those of us that were neutral in our feelings toward him after he was s**t canned are being made to despise him the more coverage he gets on outlets such as these.

I'm done with Fulmer threads, GBO, Beat the Hokies!

If he doesn't land a job this year, it won't happen for him. The longer you are out, the more difficult it is to land a job. Wonder what the "staff" he indicated he was putting together will do? I don't think he would go to Marshall as he still thinks of himself as a great coach. Why would he be so brazen to contact Notre Dame if he wasn't? Although some folks say Kelly is not a lock for that job as the AD wants someone with experience and a successful record---Fulmer.

It would fit inasmuch as both haven't had any real consistent success in years.... Lots of years.

What are the chances that Phillip Fulmer is the next head football coach at the University of Cincinnati?

I'm sure he will put his name in that mix.
I think they go with an "up and comer" with an exciting style.

Seriously...who's going to Cincy?

be the same thing.. Tom Jurich of Louisville was quoted as saying that he had talked with Fulmer but was looking for an up and coming coach that was so hungry to be there theyd practically crawl to U of L. Fulmer wont get a job this year or probably ever unless it is really a low division or just some school that football is last on the totem pole.

Since we've been speculating Fulmer to every single coaching vacancy so far, couldn't anybody have started something linking him to the job for my Portland State Vikings? We already got somebody else since Jerry Glanville "resigned."

Bobby Bowden because he was forced out and hell bent on keeping up with Joe Pa.

Seriously though, Tuberville would pry be their best option. Maybe Skip Holtz if they can snag him from ECU.
