Pig to miss spring practice

I remember seeing a thread not to long ago that basically said this same thing that he was going to be out. I had not really counted on him being there anyway. He will probably not be a factor on the team until mid season. Hope the newbys step up!!!

Its happened before with other players

Leaving for personal reasons is code for doesn't want to be on the team any longer

Maybe he still feels bad about the fumble in the Georgia game and the criticism that came with it

Only he really knows
Pig received much more praise for his effort against UGA than criticism. I was actually proud of the way VOL fans responded to that. There may have been a few vocal idiots out there criticizing him, but the response was overwhelmingly supportive.
Also, Marlin Lane did the same thing last year and seems to have come through it ok.

Ainge just said Pig's situation is like Eric Gordon part two and that he does not expect pig to be back as a football player. That going forward now the slot position is all about Von Pearson

Classic VN. Dismissing the absence of a key playmaker with experience and assuming a bunch of guys who have never seen the field will be better.

Dearly hope Pig comes back. Dude would be so effective in a balanced offense. When he's the only guy who has any playmaking ability and can make people miss on an offense and the OC runs the exact same two plays for him every time, it gets a little tougher to make plays.

pearson would take the spot pig there or not. he's seems like a good guy, and plays hard, but he did have a lot of drops in key moments in some games last year.

Anyone who thinks losing him won't hurt is msitaken. You can't just look at last year's numbers and evaluate whether his departure hurts based purely on those numbers. He's a productive kid who has been in the program for 3 years. By all accounts, he has worked hard and kept his nose clean. At this point, depth is a key issue and it really hurts to lose a productive, proven, experienced playmaker.

I think few are actually dismissing Pig. Most have said they hope he gets his issues resolved and comes back for the Fall. I know I do.

But on a message board, it's a very quick leap to go from discussing his status to who can step in to replace/exceed his production for the good of the team.

Overheard some players in class. They said he had "psychological issues" and were asking each other the last time they saw him. Also heard he's been struggling in class.

I completely understand what you're saying. No need to rephrase anything and yes, it is out of left field, but I also wanted to make it clear that I do have my reasons to believe her. You nor anyone else have to believe it, as this is my friend's story about her experience with Pig and there is no one else to back it up. I'm just saying what she and her husband told me and I thought I would share it.

Sounds like a want to be groupie. Pig probably doesn't even know this so called milf. Some students have class with a U.T football player and they automatically think they know him. I can see the conversation going something like this.......Spain:"That Pig is a really good player." Milf:"Pig Howard? He's in my Psych 101 class. He ask me out like everyday, and I tell him I'm married. One day after I told him NO for the umphteeth time, he became irate and drank some of water and he spit on me. I called the police but told them to let him go. I said he's just mad cause I'm so fine and he's frustrated that he can't have this. True story, and you know I dont lie."

GEEZ GROUPIES will stop at nothing.

Howard has been absent for a large portion of winter workouts. The Vols begin spring practice on Friday. UTÂ’s coaches and administrators have repeatedly reached out to help Howard to no avail, according to the source.-Dave Hooker

Sounds a lot like the Eric Gordon personal problem..

Wasn't the EG thing family related? I don't remember the details.

ETA: And where on Earth did you hear it was EGs mom getting a sex change?! That sounds way too far fetched to be believable.

Alton Howard @HunnitOnmyway_2 Ready to get back on that turf

Sounds like Pig may have his issues worked out

Best part of that statement is that it is on his mind and not going anywhere. It was mentioned by a few on this board that he was leaving. This sounds like his heart is in the right place.

I'm ready to get on the turf as well. But that doesn't mean I am eligible or that CBJ would let me.

Just because Pig tweeted he is ready to get back on the turf, doesn't mean he will be. For them to come out and say that Pig might not ever get back on the field, this is a big deal. A bigger deal than can be fixed in a few weeks time.

 lame

Hope you don't have a GF or wife or sister or, God forbid, a daughter who has to deal with crap from some guy.

Of course, if you have been plagued by groupies trying desperately to get into your pants and spreading lies when they can't, that's different, of course. Now you have insider knowledge. :whistling:

Sorry to dig up an old thread. Any update on pig? I see he is tweeting UT stuff but I haven't heard any news about him rejoining the team. We could really use him next year.
Go Vols!

Think it was Hubbs who recently said he doesn't expect Pig to be apart of the team this year at all, let alone Spring practice.
