Life must really smell bad around people who only have bad things to say about others.

I appreciate Crompton, and anyone else who supports our Vols. What I cannot appreciate is people who seem to be sour on everyone and everything they see.

It is getting more and more embarrassing to read these forums and think some of the people on here actually are supposed to be Vol fans.

VN has become a very depressing place last 12 months

I guess you could say Dooley did everything right but win football games. The players worked hard and did what they were supposed to do but Dooley could not make it happen on the football field.

No. but winning ensures your job. I hate when people try to make losing better than it is.

He's not. He's showing you that he's a bigger man than most on this board. It has nothing to do with football!!!

GBO VFL!!!!

I win and gain what? A record! Respect! Fans!

I've lost and gained what? Wisdom, knowledge, strength, desire, and humbleness.

I figure you never actually lost and learned. I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. Also the reason I'm showing CDD more respect than others.

I love Tennessee. I love Volunteer football.

I find these player responses to be very impressive and extremely mature for a group of 18-22 year old men going through a difficult experience.

I cannot understand how some posters can criticize a guy like Herman Lathers who has given everything he has to this program.

Regardless of how you felt about Crompton's performance at Tennessee, how can someone be critical of a former player who is out publicly supporting our Vols.

As for me, I'm proud of how these guys are handling the situation. Of course I'm not happy about our w/l record, but for crying out loud the players are giving so much to the program. Let's support them.

Looking forward to a brighter future! Let's hope Hart makes the best decisions of his career in the coming days.

You sir I take from your comment probably has never had to endure a tough situation. Totally classless to make light of a player who has laid all he has on the line for Tennessee. Regardless what the outcome of the games may have been. Some of us fans need to get a life...

If anybody ever questioned the success that Dooley had at UT, all they need to do is read this thread. Coaching is much more than playing the game; it is about turning boys into men.

"I will be at the game on Sat but I was going no matter who the coach is! Hope yall were doing the same for OUR Vols! It's about the players!"
-Jonathan Crompton, @jcromp8

Glad to see him supporting the Vols after the way the fans treated him!

I love that guy. He is the epitome of class, as far as I'm concerned.

Please don't hide behind your keyboard! I'm sure Herman would be glad to discuss where his feelings and thoughts came from when he posted his comment.

Turn in all your UT stuff because you are not a true VOL fan!

Not everything is about wins and losses. Just like most of the players, the fans should appreciate what Dooley has done for the program. He walked into a situation most didn't want to touch, gave his all for Tennessee every way he could, and helped straighten out the lives of several young men, and sadly it didn't turn into more W's.

The guy is still a winner in my book.

douche bag comment of the year.... Herman Lathers has endured more struggles in his short life as most will endure during a lifetime. Have some respect man.. Herman is a model Vol and one that I truly respect and wish nothing but the best.

God Bless you Herman, life surely hasn't been fair to you but you persevere through it all. That is the true measure of a man and a champion.

After reading that comment, I bet you hate a lot of things. I bet you hate more than you like. Life is going to slap you in the face one day and wake you up.

No one likes to lose, but everyone does at some point in life and he was just expessing it is how you deal with it that is important, not that he accepted losing.

many better coaches would have taken the UT job---dooley got the job only because of his dad's name and connection

Well... hunter and cp are gone fore sure now and more than likely james too. I could give two $h*** about bray

I'd rather Bray stay.

i could give two shlts about Hunter (only ever gives 90 percent, afraid of getting hurt) and Patterson (idiot can't figure out that taunting is against the rules).

Anyone criticizing Herman Lathers needs to turn in not only their Vol card but also their humanity card. He has suffered more at a young age than most of us will in a lifetime. Bone cancer is one of the absolutely most painful, horrid, things in this world and he fought back and survived. He'd be a hero for that alone but he went further than that and made it all the way to university, to an SEC football team, and lays his heart out there in everything he does. He's a champion.

If anybody ever questioned the success that Dooley had at UT, all they need to do is read this thread. Coaching is much more than playing the game; it is about turning boys into men.

Come on now.. Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems.. The truth of the matter usually lies somewhere in the middle.. Did Dooley have a positive influence on some of these players lives, of course he did.. Did he do/say some things that left some with very bitter and negative feelings towards him, of course he did.. Did he do some good things for the progam, yes.. Did he hurt the program in some ways, yes I would say so..

Those who wish to somehow make a martyr out of him, don't. I'm pretty sure he would be the first to say he is no martyr.. Those who wish to bash and trash him, don't. He does not deserve that kind of treatment.. He took the job, did his best but just wasn't up to it..

I supported him for a long time but in the end I found I couldn't do it anymore. Also in the end I was critical of his coaching but that is over..

Bottom line is he could not win and now he is gone.. Can't we just let him leave in peace and look to the future knowing that it will be better.
