Please DON'T start Nico [Nico merged]

Let me ask you one simple question.

Would you rather have a freshman version Josh Dobbs in this offense or Joe Milton?

Who's to say Nico couldn't be a breakout freshman sensation like Dobbs or Bray or even Trevor Lawrence?

It's just utterly retarded to say hur durrr....we can't try Nico because he's a freshman and freshman get hurt easily. Freshmen make too many mistakes.

It's like STFU......you really don't know until you try. For the love of god. You same people are part of the reason we were stuck with JG at QB for what seemed like a freaking decade.

I understand what you’re saying but the freshmen QBs who has success ( Tua, Lawrence, etc) had good O-lines.

Is a mobile shifty QB who's not afraid to take off and try to win games by zny means possible.

Milton might as well be Peyton back there. He can fly when he wants to but he always ignores wide open lanes. It would really help open up our offense and running game.

I say try Nico this game. Before you tell me oh he's skinny... he's a freshman. Please just stop. Tyler Bray was scrawny as a true freshman and lit it up behind a poor line.

Dobbs came in against a monster of a Bama defense and instantly balled out.

You could clearly see both of their "it" factors as soon as a few plays happened. I've yet to ever see this in Milton.

And that performance against AP was one of the worst I've ever seen out of a starting QB for Tennessee. It sas easily up there with some of JG's eggs.

We have nothing to lose guys. Our offense desperately needs a spark.
A mobile qb isn't going to make them less weak.

it's frustrating that the coach doesn't see Martinez's bad history of DB coaching. he was bad at Georgia, bad at Tennessee the 1st time, he hasn't improved.

I think he's seen it, exactly why he didn't get a raise when the rest fid. Martinez won't be back I don't believe. Our secondary is just as bad this year, look lost and can't tackle for $hit.

You aren't wrong!

I was not a JG fan at all. And I believe we should ride this year out with Milton. But ask me in November if I still agree with myself.

Unfortunately there is no no way that Milton is beating SC, A&M Bama, Mizzou UGA and likely maybe even Kentucky.

That would make for a potential 7 loss season and judging from the Austin Peay and UF games I'd say it's very possible.

So if Tennessee loses 6-7 games at the end of the season are you really going to sit there and say gee I'm really glad that we never tried Nico and he has zero starting experience headed into his sophomore season? That is if he doesn't hit the portal by then ofcourse.

Our only possible chance at a respectable or good season is if Nico is indeed a freshman baller like Dobbs or Bray as the starter. We can't possibly know until we try though.

How many will be in attendance this Saturday? The student section is sold out so hopefully they all attend.

Unfortunately the Mrs. and I can’t attend, so I’m selling my tickets. Usually I receive numerous responses but this week has been different.

I think there will be about 90k in attendance.

Thoughts? Go Vols! Let’s get back on track!
Depends who starts at QB will determine what a lot of fans do Saturday.

My reasoning is this is an 8 win team max. Unless something changes drastically on the lines and the secondary. I don’t think Nico changes the trajectory significantly. Get him playing time and ease him into the system.

Maybe Milton looks better once the missing offensive linemen return. I don’t think there’s much hope for the DBs.

you are not gonna get anymore production out of Nico than you do Joe. Thats why he isnt starting. Hard for fans to grasp that. Glen E. needs to be put on the chopping block. Not having a true backup to Cooper Mays is inexcusable at this point.

Glen has built some goodwill with how he developed Darnell Wright, but I agree this current o-line situation has put me back to square 1 with him, or close.

I wish I could go. I’d go to every home game if I could and some away games. Unfortunately, I have to go out of town for work and wouldn’t make it home in time for that trip. I will be watching on TV

That might be the cure. Feel just like Heaven if it works

1,000,000% agree. If your offensive line is shaky, but you have an athletic quarterback… it prevents their defensive lineman from pinning their ears back and coming at you hard.
It also locks up one or sometimes even two additional defenders in the second level from dropping back into coverage because they have to always be aware the quarterback is a threat to run.

Amongst a number of other weaknesses Milton has such as not managing the game well, not being able to throw accurately on the run, not being able to throw accurately even when his feet are sad and there is no pressure, etc.… Add not being a very athletic runner to the list.

He’s just not very good. That’s all there is to it.
