Please DON'T start Nico [Nico merged]

you are not gonna get anymore production out of Nico than you do Joe. Thats why he isnt starting. Hard for fans to grasp that. Glen E. needs to be put on the chopping block. Not having a true backup to Cooper Mays is inexcusable at this point.
And you know this how? You don’t. Erik Ainge was a thousand times the QB as a freshman that Milton is now - he could read defenses and go through progressions, and he was accurate. And he was only a four-star. He was also every bit as skinny as Nico is now.

BS. Tyler Bray was a toothpick as a true freshman and never got injured.

You guys always say the same old tired BS rethoric because you are extremely risk adverse.

Offensive football has evolved. A lot of these freshmen QBs are way ahead of their times now coming out of highschool.

Nico could play and be another Harrison Bailey for all i know. Doesn't matter, we should still try. One or two quarters against UTSA won't hurt.

Truth is we will likely lose if we play like we did against AP and Florida. That AP performance was the worst I've seen us look since the Georgia State loss.

And there is no prayer of Milton beating South Carolina unless we get both starters on the line back by then maybe.

Our backup center has absolutely killed us this year. Him and Hadden.
No prayer? Lol we will be favored to beat South Carolina and will beat them with Joe at QB.

A freshmen qb is the answer? How many freshmen are good. We get him hurt and we are screwed.

I bet we air raid. I bet we launch 6 to 10 deep balls.
Freshman QB may not be the answer, but we all know Milton isn’t either. Also we don’t know what we have till he plays meaningful snaps. And how are we anymore “screwed” now then next year year if he gets hurt? Next year who’s the backup another true freshman? Play him now and see what we have and that will tell us if we need a rental QB next year out of the portal.

Also it doesn’t matter if we play him now or if Milton goes down with an injury. If Milton got hurt do you want a QB with minimal snaps, or someone that has taken a decent amount? By your logic, Nico needs to be 3rd string and Moore be QB behind Milton. Heupel has already made it clear he is not redshirting Nico and he is clearly out #2.

Playing a freshman qb is the worst thing you can do with a questionable o line

He definitely is overreacting in saying we don’t have prayer. With that being said, I’m not sure what team you’ve been watching to be so confident. South Carolina has looked better than we have the last two games. The Neyland Effect may be enough to propel us to a win, but it is absolutely a toss up. Wouldn’t be shocked either way.

Is a mobile shifty QB who's not afraid to take off and try to win games by zny means possible.

Milton might as well be Peyton back there. He can fly when he wants to but he always ignores wide open lanes. It would really help open up our offense and running game.

I say try Nico this game. Before you tell me oh he's skinny... he's a freshman. Please just stop. Tyler Bray was scrawny as a true freshman and lit it up behind a poor line.

Dobbs came in against a monster of a Bama defense and instantly balled out.

You could clearly see both of their "it" factors as soon as a few plays happened. I've yet to ever see this in Milton.

And that performance against AP was one of the worst I've ever seen out of a starting QB for Tennessee. It sas easily up there with some of JG's eggs.

We have nothing to lose guys. Our offense desperately needs a spark.
A great running game by the RUNNING BACKS!!!!!

Quicker reading of the defense by the QB and better match ups when calling the plays. This offense is built to go fast so really they only need to hold their blocks for just three seconds or so. Boom Boom go to the next play.

At this point the freshman DBs need to get worked in, I wouldn't imagine it would be that significant of a drop off in level of play, but as long as Martinez is the coach, I'm not sure how much of a difference it'll make.

if we weren’t so emotionally tied to this team, Milton wouldn’t seem near as bad as he is portrayed on this site. Is he great? No. Does he need to play better? Yes. But over the past three weeks I’ve seen many starting QBs that are worse, and I’m not in a knot when they overthrow their WRs, get sacked, or make what I deem to be a bad decision. Incompletions are part of the game, especially when you’re throwing 20+ yards passes. If our OL and defense played better against Florida Milton’s performance would have resulted in a win. By all means I’m not 100% on the Milton bandwagon, and I’m not sure he can lead us to victories over Bama and GA even with better OL and defensive play. The Florida butthurt has softened, and I’m just trying to look at things objectively again.

Hadden, Burrell, McCullough have all struggled.
that’s certainly not breaking news. Not sure why the coaching staff sticks with them. Maybe the youth just looks worse in practice? Who knows ?

Peyton wasn't good as a freshmen. According to you, we should have gotten rid of him. People wanted Brandon Stewart not Peyton that year to be our future. He reminded everyone of Heath Shuler with his ability to run.

So Willie is teaching the DB’s not to turn around or cover? So all the players he had drafted, he taught them correctly, makes sense.

According to me, should have gotten rid of Peyton? Where the hell you get that out of with me simply stating Nico needs a shot? Regardless of how good nico is, we are limited what we have already currently under center. So why not play Nico against UTSA and if it don’t work out we go back to Milton vs USCjr.

Saban played Buchner and Simpson against a G5 team last week to see what they had, and now he’s sticking with Milroe rest of the year. They had the athletes to beat USF like we have the Athletes to beat UTSA regardless who’s under center.

I'm not following Saban in his qb decisions. He's handled it poorly. Personally I think our OC isn't the guy. Makes little adjustments. We have a qb that can throw it deep. We have taken very few shots. I say let Milton prove he can't throw it deep. He looks good to me on deep passes. I don't think Joe has looked good bc we are throwing it short. Now in my opinion if we are only gonna throw bubble screens then yeah put Nico in bc you don't have to be talented to run what we are running.

Just relax and be patient… y’all all think this is madden why divide the team and bench a guy with Milton’s numbers… I do think Nico has a significantly better natural feel for the game than joe and will dominate when it’s his time… he still has a lot to learn from Joe… Mahomes was a million times better than Alex smith but still needed a year to learn the minor details about prep and playing Qb… By all accounts joe knows the system in and out and is a great teammate you wanna risk losing the trust of a team this early joe has earned the right to continue to start and yes we want him to be more of a playmaker like Hendo but he is not playing bad… we need the entire team to get better n step it up. Nico will be great at UT no need to rush it at this point in the season.

Except that Nico is currently a toothpick as a true freshman and has already got dinged up in limited action, so apparently he's not like Tyler Bray.
