There are many that think to be a Lady Vol fan you have to be a Holly fan and that is simply not true. Some think that you hate Holly just because you believe the program is going in the wrong direction and that is not true. There are a lot of good people in the coaching world but lack the ability to be a good head coach. These "I love Holly" people seem to think that it is great that Holly is entrenched on the side lines forever, no matter what happens. The Lady Vol program is bigger then any coach or player, it was once the gold standard. The game is not about loving or hating Holly it is about leadership and how the game is played. The name Lady Vol means Women's Basketball. Pat created a legacy that has evolved into a major sport, both in the US and around the world. There should be every effort made to keep the Lady Vols a relevant player. Not just the name but how they are coached and how they play. It is a heavy mantle to wear, but no one said it would be easy. The program is leaking oil and the engine is not hitting on all eight. It is in serious need of repair. We can all throw up our hands and watch the once well oiled machine fall apart until all its gaskets are blown, or we can go about fixing the problems.
Just because you want things to improve does not mean you are not a fan or you hate Holly as a person. We are not a top ten program and we keep falling down the ladder. We lack leadership on the floor and on the bench. We cannot substain good play from game to game, as far as that matters, from quarter to quarter. Some seem to think, just throw more 5 star players at the situation and things will get better, well we have had more five stars than MSU and Mississippi but they seem to get better while we grow worse. Some want to blame individual players, and at times they do play like rock heads, but these are young women that need to be coached and guided. They are going to do dumb things, but who is responsible for correcting bad play and inconsistencies, it is the head coach. Being a fan is much more than yelling rah rah, as the wheels come off.
