Politics aside, tonight's speech

lol, I thought so. His delivery was quite bad, but he actually had points and messages. He wasn't just painting broad strokes like Obama continues to do.

Horsesh*t. He didn't speak on one single platform or plan. Not even in a general sense. Please, certainly you're smarter than that

he talked about breaks for the american and not using big government. Obama just wanted to tell me that one day, one day we will all rise together and we will cars that cost $100 and don't run on oil, one day we will all afford healthcare! one day we will get a proper education. One day America will endure. Whoop de doo. Let that one day be today!

Of course it will. I like him, but he'll never be president

He certainly has a long way to go but let us not forget that many said the very same thing about Obama, up until a year before the election it was Hillary Clinton and not even close.

i dont' see how not voting for things that violate what every republican cares about makes them look 'bitter.'

Whatever they do at this point is going to labeled as bitter and angry and the worst, racist. Even when voting against a bill that was rammed through without debate, while the vast majority of the public had serious and valid objections.

They are trying to portray themsevles as principled about fiscal responsibility, but the country's memory is not so short that they do not remember the Republican pork in the Bush bill three months ago. And so in the end they come across as whiney, petty, and instransigent.

the republican pork???????? how do you think this bill got through a democratic congress exactly?

This bill was far from republican, it was a joint effort and Bush signed it. Correct that it was filled with pork but this bill goes a step further. The bill Bush signed was not so much a stimulus bill as it was a stop gap measure to keep major institutions from failing. There was much less argument that something had to be done right then that day.

This bill is Obama's baby, no bypartisan effort even attempted, he pushed it through as stimulus when it consists of close to 50% pork (by many accounts and from what I have read on it that % looks about right).

I don't follow politics, so I have no actual input into this conversation. I do come with a question, though. When do I start worrying that I will have to move back in with my parents, learn to milk and slaughter cows and eat from their garden, all the while walking around strapped to fend off those trying to steal my food?

I guess I should have watched or read the speech before commenting instead of relying on my friends, because he did comment on better days. However, the language of fear that seems to be coming from everyone, including the POTUS has to stop

Just a correction to something I said previously in the thread:

It may have been Chris Matthews that said, "Oh God" or "My God" before Jindal spoke.

Him walking up like that? I think most people though the same thing as Matthews. Staged, artificial, goofy, and lame.

Now, we can all think that, but Matthews should not have said anything.

Yep.

It's really not that big of deal, but since people love slamming FNC I figured I'd throw a bone in there against MSNBC.

I tried to watch Rachel Maddow last night. That was hard to do.

A statement like this could have dual meaning when commenting on a female commentator, in this particular case you are safe........or one sick and desperate man!

Just to clarify, my beef with Jindal's speech was mostly with the delivery.

She's lesbian. That doesn't seal my opinion about her, but it's known.

She was born into a staunch republican family and this is her way of getting back at her parents.

I used to listen to her radio show, Bill O'Reilly and her parents is all she talked about.

i'll tell u one thing i'm glad that the obamas have decided, and that's on what kind of dog they're going to get. sure hope michelle lets the girls pick a name, but sounds like she is being picky. can't wait to see pics, and find out the name.
