I have no beef with you....I'd actually love to hear more about how you believe. I know what I believe but it's always interesting to me to hear other people's beliefs
There is no disagreement.

Let me put it this way. I’ve spent the last 35 years tearing this apart in the original language in context of the time written. I’m pretty confident so I speak in absolutes.
But let’s be clear, what I think will be irrelevant to you at your judgement. You will be judged for you. So I’m ok if you don’t agree with me. When I’m judged, your agreement or disagreement will not be in the conversation.

Could be any or none of the above. All I know is that he went from being a loser druggie to full on religious trying to warn everyone based on what he experienced. He certainly felt he was given a second chance for a reason.
Maybe he was. That would lead to an interesting discussion. Unfortunately most are not capable of having it.

(Nothing happens by chance in my opinion)

I know a guy that was a drug user. He was partying with some friends at a lake, got higher than a kite, tripped and fell face down in water. His friends eventually found him and got an emergency service there because he had drowned. EMS was able to revive him, but they believed he actually was dead and it was a miracle that he came back. This guy completely changed after this incident for the positive, because he said that while he was face down in the water, he was dead and that he was actually in hell being tormented by a demon for what seemed like years. TIFWIW.

I read this book many years ago and I still have it. I was going to write the forward that is in the book but unfortunately I cannot locate it. Our house is packed with more stuff than we need.

Visions of Hell…
In A Divine Revelation of Hell, over a period of thirty nights, God gave Mary K. Baxter visions of hell and commissioned her to tell people still alive on earth to reject sin and evil, and to choose life in Christ. Here is an account of the place and beings of hell contrasted with the glories of heaven. Follow Mary in her supernatural journey as she enters with Jesus into a gateway to hell and encounters the sights, sounds, and smells of that dark place of torment, including its evil spirits, cells, pits, jaws, and heart. Be an eyewitness to the various punishments of lost souls and hear their shocking stories. This book is a reminder that each of us needs to accept the miracle of salvation before it is too late—and to intercede for those who do not yet know Christ. Time is running out.

And keep in mind that the religious leaders of the day judge Jesus a heretic and were instrumental in His crucifixion, so there’s a pretty good precedence that we should not be judging

I have also spent much time on it and can appreciate the erudition of others.

On this, we agree - that there is only what is True - and everything else. Truth stands apart from our opinions of it.

That's such an outdated concept.

"I swear to tell my truth, my whole truth, and nothing but my truth."

The Bible makes it very clear that those same religious leaders acted out of selfish, hypocritical motives rather than actually believing that Jesus was guilty of heresy. Jesus confounded and exposed them when he confronted them with Scripture. Even Pontius Pilate publicly acknowledged that he couldn't find any fault with Jesus and that an innocent man was being executed.

Both Old and New Testaments give numerous examples of how both the civil magistrate and the church are to exercise discipline and punish evildoers. That cannot be possible without judgment.

There is an absolute truth
Very much in the same way that my truck runs on diesel and only diesel. The absolute truth says it won’t run on coffee no matter how many times and ways the owners manual is mistranslated or misunderstood

But I think you have to have respect for the fact that God wrote or inspired the manual, and any given persons ability to understand that truth is limited and thus subjective, no matter how many times the truck ends up in the shop when someone tried to fuel it with coffee.

What weight should we put on these kinds of stories? I don't even believe accounts of the supernatural from people who were conscious during said events. I'm even less inclined to believe accounts from the dreaming/dead. I'm not saying he's lying or even that he's wrong. That may be a real experience he had with a lesson that is genuinely based in the hereafter. It may be a real dream he had with a takeaway that pertains to nothing except his own mind. He may be lying. Let's say he's not a liar....how does anyone (including him) know that his premonition had real implications?

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve had supernatural experiences while completely sober and I’ve never done drugs. I don’t expect anyone to believe me when I’ve told them what I witnessed. I also don’t expect anyone to believe what this other guy said happened to him. I do find it interesting that he didn’t claim to go to heaven and see old deceased family and pets, but instead pure evil that scared him badly enough to change his lifestyle and to beg those around him to change theirs as well.

I have encountered the Holy Spirit a few times as a teenager and I would never deny it.
