The NCAA NIL restrictions were illegal. The Supreme Court said so by a 9-0 decision.

The state of Tennessee has already joined the State of Virginia's federal lawsuit against the NCAA. More states are likely to do do.

The NCAA is going to get hit with so many lawsuits that they won't have enough lawyers to defend them all, let alone win them.

The NCAA doesn't have subpoena power, either. Every school that they investigate should copy UNC, refuse to provide documents, and tell them to GTH. So should Spyre and every other NIL collectives and donor.

This is how the NCAA gets replaced as the Division 1 football governing body. This is how the NCAA outs the final nails in their own coffin.

I hope there are discover requests from the NCAA as it may pick up dirt about favoritism on their investigation/enforcement process. Be funny if they could find evidence of NCAA overlooking a program like Saban's Alabama but spying on opponents of that program.

Which is why I said it was the “allegation”

That’s what they got FSU for basically. And I’m sure they’re gonna hit several other programs. It makes me wonder if they’re trying to piss everyone off so they become their own semi pro league and they can collectively bargain and set salary caps
There can be no regulation of NIL money.

bama is the rat and Georgia has a very high ranking member at the ncaa. They are wanting to see us fail. The lack of any word from Sankey and the SEC office isnt good in my opinion. Wish other states would jump in the fight

Not sure about Bama as a school but I will say a lot of Alabama fans have come out supporting Tennessee in this argument.

We’re already on probation. We have to say that. We did the same thing several other collectives did, but it was still illegal under the rules.

Same with FSU, the staffer drove a recruit to see the collective so they could work out a deal. And they just got hit with pretty hefty penalties.

It’s like speeding, sure everyone is speeding, but if you are the only one that gets pulled over, you were still doing something illegal.
What did we do that is illegal?

That may be the allegation, although I have not heard that. Perhaps you are connected? I believe I read that university staff, including coaches, can be involved with these things and even as far as appearing at events that benefit a players NIL, but just can't directly contribute "cash" to the collective.

Isn't it also state law in Tennessee?
That is the problem. State Laws regarding NIL vary. California and Tennessee's laws may be different. Alabama had to rewrite their law, implemented it and it did not pass so they rewrote it and tried again. I guess the question remains the same which takes Precedent the NCAA or the State.

My understanding is Spyre utilized a donor's plane/jet to fly Nico somewhere.

The donor's plane/jet being used is part of the problem.
No it is not.

A donor may have offered it and Spyre may have paid to rent it. It makes no difference.
Nico flew to Knoxville to cut a potential deal with Spyre not the University.
Spyre was responsible for all expenses of that flight and the university was not.

The NCAA is stretching it and the truth will come out. The NCAA did not like what happen and retroactively created a Rule.

While Nico was in Knoxville he took an unofficial visit with the University. What was illegal? How long after that visit, did he sign?

So here is the problem the NCAA will lose the Anti-trust lawsuit because they cannot prevent or control a student's decision to profit from his talent. The laws vary from State to State.

What's more, is that the NCAA asked to Congress to intercede to no avail and failed.

The NCAA failed in a suit that ended up in the SCOTUS that rendered a 9-0 decision against the NCAA.

The NCAA then stupidly by their on doing opened up the Portal to multiple transfers which in essence poured gas on the fire. Created a much worse environment.

The only real thing that the NCAA does is to determine player eligibility, recruiting rules and administer rulings of which they can't do anymore making them a worthless organization.

What we are seeing is that the NCAA is not capable of overseeing the modern era of College Athletics. The NCAA knows it and they are the ones that created the Wild West environment. The NCAA is dead in the water. So they decided to use fear tactics. If the NCAA has 2000+ employees I see this organization reduced to 40 in the near future.

Tennessee was easy picking but the NCAA was so far behind creating NIL and the Portal rules they failed miserably and should fail in the courts. If the NCAA were to win you will see more than one lawsuit.

The formation of the SEC and B10 advisory board will be the end of the NCAA. Pretty simple math.
