So you can only win with old fashioned unis. Seems like the coaching and RECRUITING have more to do with it. We have to recruit nationwide but coach Nicky only needs Lower Alabama to field a team (exaggeration yes). But God forbid what if Tenn got a reputation as COOL! We have a damned fight song about moonshiners. Think 17 year olds who listen to rap can relate. Give me a break. We will never win like Bama but at least we can get our tradition soaked heads out of our orange butts and try something different or are you too scared?

See Clay Travis thread for reference. Maybe he spoke the truth about the fanbase!

I never said that. You did however say that in order to keep recruiting, we needed to update our uniforms. I countered that by saying that Alabama is recruiting well enough to win 3 of the past 4 NC's all while being even less innovative than us on the uniform front.

As for my reasons for not wanting to change the uniforms, it has nothing to do with being afraid. I just think UT has a classy distinct look and 99% of the "new age" uniforms just look tacky and low-rent.

Vol865, all of these options are characterizations of positions that have been advocated in uniform threads. "Ruin our tradition" is an exaggeration; it has been argued, however, that excessive use of radically different alternate uniforms could weaken our brand association, and it definitely is a defensible argument.

I can agree with excessive use damaging the brand but once a year or every other year isnt excessive

UT needs to be careful. OK ST is really pushing their orange and it's similar to ours. They've got the Orange/Gray combo locked up (which is sweet imo). Saw a pic the other day on another site of men in the stands wearing suit and orange ties. At quick glance I thought at first it was a UT pic and article. So when I went into it I got a better look of the men and 1 was T. Boone Pickens, and in turn a OSU related article.

I know there are legal trademarks etc, so no need to be "edumacated" on that. But perception for marketing reasons could hurt the brand if not careful. Especially west of the missisp...

We've dealt with it in the past with UTX and the interlocking UT. The aggies with the seahawks and the whole 12th man deal. May not be as extreme...yet..but if OSU has a plan to be aggressive about it we better not be caught with our hands down our pants. Which unfortunately will probably be the case knowing the way the higher ups think.

Just imho that's all...

GBO!!!

You know what would be awesome....yet another thread that talks about UT's uniforms, how they need alternates, how the black jerseys were cool, and that Nike is better than Adidas.

Im 27 and I love tennessee orange. However, my stepson is 13 and listening to him and his friends, eh love Oregons unis. So based on that I picked 3. Give me orange and white most of the time, but throw in something fancy occasionally and surprise me. I like the black posted above, but don't ever make it look like that cheap black jersey in 2009. That was exciting but poorly done.

And when your son is in his 20s, he'll probably think Oregon's uniforms are kind of stupid looking.

Duh. It's not like there is even so much as one of those types of threads, much less 3-4 that have been started in the past week. :)

And yet you find your way in all of them whining and crying about "I don't want change!!!" Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. We get it, you don't want anything more than just plain Jane orange and white. Luckily you have no say so.

I think the uniforms should look however the players and coaches decide they want them to look.

1 alternate would be ok as long as the color and shade of orange is consistent. The orange on the helmet looks different than the orange on the pants and jerseys.

I am absolutely floored at the lack of people who voted for the first option. It's the only option that explicitly mentions winning.

No **** Sherlock

That means you have no say either; which also means UT might agree with him, not you.

You said it like it's good he doesn't get a say, meaning they're going to give us "new, cool uniforms", yet the upcoming changes are subtle.

If me posting my opinion about our uniforms in the uniform threads bothers you so much, by all means, feel free to put me on ignore. Perhaps that would be best for all of us, that way, with the burden of having to read my opinions no longer dragging you down like a lead anchor, you'll free up some time to grace us all with more insights that hopefully continue to be as brilliant as your previous two posts.

One problem we have with our orange color is what color orange is it? When I watch a game, I see 5 different shades of orange on the fans, light shades and darker shades and everything in between. Florida, Auburn, Okis State and Texas all seem to know what their orange colors are supposed to be. Don't know what the answer is to that prob but let's keep an open mind. I would imagine that if the Al Gore had invented the internet years earlier, and mind numbing message boards had existed then, folks would have been wasting their time arguing about unis when the decision was made to put the players names on the back of the jerseys.
