Pollution......we’re all going to die.

It seems to me that years ago, we did pretty well without plastic everything. I was raised in the day of paper grocery bags, glass soft drink bottles that we paid a deposit for and returned, drank water from the faucet instead of a plastic bottle, used paper straws and cups, not styrofoam, etc. We washed and reused silverware instead of plastic utensils. Soft drinks and beer were in bottles in cardboard cartons. Corporate America changed us to plastic.

Does this problem transcend Trump? Did the Great Garbage Patch suddenly spring into existence when he was elected? Is he responsible for China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia and a slew of others dumping garbage into the rivers and oceans?

The answer is simple. This is a problem that goes way beyond one sitting President. However, you want to try to make it about Trump, failing miserably, but trying nonetheless. Now, you can either get into the conversation of how the world might help in solving its refuse problem or continue making yourself the fool by invoking Trump every turn.

Of course it existed before, and will exist after, Trump.

That does not excuse his denying the existence of the problem and does not excuse his making it worse.

How is he making it worse? Couple of real examples would be nice.

No, I'm saying there needs to be enhanced recycling efforts nationwide instead of selected areas banning certain materials. Here in this nation rather than shipping it overseas where it ends up being resold to us.
Sure, that would be great. You might have to ask yourself "why" we are not doing that. My theory is there is minimal profits from doing so. It seems pretty clear there is a failure of capitalism in this area.

is EcoStud engineered with plastics or is it a wood product?

Also, do you think recycled tires could be used in roofing/shingles?
I think the ecostud is just plastic. But it just says 100% recycled content.

I am pretty sure old tires get used in some roof stuff already. Only draw back is its usually a lower quality than fresh made stuff and probably more expensive. So most owners dont want to pay for a lesser product.

Was it a failure of capitalism that we weren't flying before the Wright brothers?

All it means is there isnt enough demand to justify it. Even in places like cali recycling doesnt sell well enough.

Nice strawman.
All it means is there isn't enough profit. High supply of recycled plastics with low demand for recycled plastics equals low profits and little incentive for a company to do it. There is not a strong capitalistic market to accommodate the will of people to reduce pollution.

Trump is denying pollution exists?

He brags about HE insists that we have the cleanest water and the cleanest air. and that we do.

The facts are that we do not. And its getting worse, not better. And the further facts are that his administration has been rolling back EPA rules quite a bit. He even suggested eliminating the EPA during the campaign.

More fraud by the con man in chief.

Its not a failure of the market. The market is a system. It's the people that create the demand. It's the typical issue of wanting something but not being willing to make a real change for it. So instead of making the change yourselves and supplying the demand for recycled goods you whine and stomp your feet and say the government should be the one creating the demand you wont.

Several of the last things the EPA pushed through regarding water management actually cause damage.

The epa isnt some magical thing where everything it touches turns green. Nor is it required for things to be turned green.

Never understood why you would rather beat someone the way you want them to go rather than leading them from the front

Umm, we do have some of the cleanest air and water in the industrialized world. Please back up your ******** with some facts.

Go ahead and list the EPA rules rolled back and their effect, I dare ya.

I didn't know tires were already components of some shingles. That's interesting. Several years ago I heard that some road builders were using ground up recycled tires as part of the new road, do you know anything about that?

If we as a country were serious about air and water pollution there would be a serious groundswell of support for increasing natural gas use and distribution.

Some of our East Tennessee residents have been ahead of the curve on this. They use several whole tires to hold down the roof of their trailer.

When I had a new roof put on my house two years ago and the shingles that were used has rubber in them & when you're up on the house walking on it it has a rubbery feel to it.

I think this is pretty common.

The rule of thumb I was taught when it came to recycling is if its organic based just use as a finish. If its non organic non ferrous put it in concrete as an add. If its ferrous just melt it down into whatever steel you need.
