I could see it on the video feed that utsports was streaming. Firefighters playing the Police in basketball made for a nice break.

Can i post in here? I know i don't have the experience but i'm laying myself at the mercy of the pooch, and his forum patrol.

Anyway, We saw the good and the bad were going to get from this team, all in one game. First half we were absolutely awful on offense, especially without Trae on the floor. We settled for bad perimeter shots and ignored the fact that we had a clear advantage in the paint. Second half we saw the good. Trae was spectacular again, as i believe he will be all year, and we saw the role players really shine. McBee, Richardson, and Miller all played well and did their jobs.

Kenny Hall continues to disappoint. I think he needs to be benched for Miller. Make him earn his way back into the lineup. He has the size and we, or maybe just I, think he has the talent. He just needs to play stronger and actually utilize his size. He's a turnover machine because he always brings the ball down and the little guys have a field day on him everytime!
Cam Tatum is a disappointment but i think he took a step in the right direction. He took a few bad shots, but we need him to be aggressive and attack with the dribble. When he floats around the perimeter all game he becomes invisible.
Trae is the man.
Maymon has been a pleasant surprise, and he looks a lot better this year in every way. Hope he can keep it up.
McRae hasn't exploded yet but i think he can. he is going to score in bunches and play streaky defense all year.

Cuonzo has shown me some things i really like. I'm starting to get really excited about this team. Hope we can surprise some people by years end.

I thought we might lose one of these first 2 games. We only had Cam coming back and he is average, at best. Maymon and Golden have absolutely blown me away. I still can't believe how well Golden distributes the ball, all while being the leading scorer, as well.

Frankly, I thought we'd be luck to even be .500. Now, we may still end up there, but at this point, I could see us being in the top half of the SEC. Pure speculation.

Good development so far by our players. I love the motion offense. However, we have a long way to go and think that UT is probably the 4th best team in Tennessee right now.
Let's see how quickly this team gels and which player(s) over-achieve and hopefully have an exciting and successful season.

Yes. We'll know a lot more about this team after Maui.
And if we take any thrashings there will be those that go off the deep end.
I'd like to see a rematch against Michigan in the second game.

Yes, but that still doesn't mean that you can't evaluate the fundamentals on an individual level. Some players have already shown some clear development.

I think Golden is obviously playing with more control and confidence but other then him I still want to see their "fundamentals" agaist a good team before I get overly excited.

I agree. Obviously, we'll get our wish on Monday.

But until then, let people keep their optimism and excitement, especially during such a shaky time in Tennessee athletics. No one with a lick of rationality is predicting great success. Our start to the season could have been a lot worse, therefore people have some reason to be excited. These condescending posts do nothing good.

1. Cuonzo is so much better for the team and University than I realized. It's a truly good feeling having a coach that is more universally respected than any other men's coach we've had in years.

2. Maymon needs some help in the middle. This became more obvious as the game wore on. He is not gonna be able to carry the load by himself. Hall, Yemi, or Miller are gonna have to step up and provide consistent rebounding, defense and some scoring for us to succeed at a high level this year.

3. We shoot free throws better than any UT team I've ever watched and I've been around a while, you whippersnappers!

4. Duke was rattled by our defense and effort, they composed, then realized we were really a good team and played like a great team down the stretch.

5. The refs did us no favor by calling ticky-tack crap on Golden and take him out of the game physically early, and later, mentally with the Phantom 3rd Foul. His defense suffered all night

6. I don't know the word to describe the Plumlees, I'm just sure I shouldn't type it here. Can't stand the way the whole lot of them play. And the one Plumlee is terrible at FTs. Chumlee on Pawn Stars could shoot them better.

7. We needed Washpun to step up when Golden got and gets in foul trouble and he did and seems ready to in the future. He battled and led the team for almost all of a solid first half.

8. I saw some good things from Miller, Yemi, and Woolridge. Flashes need to become less the exception and more the expected.

9. Golden did his best to bring the team back and will end up being one of the best point guards to ever don the orange (and occasionally blue shoes).

10. I didn't see the halftime show, but I miss updates on that as much as I miss sweaty suits and half ass play.
