1. McRae had 25 and shot fairly well.

2. Tatum shot better and made a couple of clutch shots.

3. Golden has bottomed out. What is going on there?

4. Washpun plays hard every game.

5. Maymon is hurting. I hate to see a guy struggle through an injury.

6. Our D was substandard.

7. Every team has a couple throw-aways each year, so hopefully this will be one of the few. I've felt we played well in every other game this season.

Pretty spot on Pooch. We turned the ball over way too much and didn't capitalize on their mistakes. They shot lights out and hit even contested, tough shots. Early season growing pains but we need this team to regroup and everyone give 100% against PITT. Go Vols!

Good stuff Pooch. I agree with your point on Washpun. This kid seems to have some considerable upside. We can probably expect him to continue to improve with more PT. The only thing I would add is poor rebounding effort at times.

1. Turnovers killed us. Reason number 1 that we lost the game.

2. They had about 10 more offensive rebounds than us. Reason number 2 we lost the game.

3. My biggest, and probably your biggest, worry during the preseason was simply, "who is going to score?". It was apparent today that we need a pure scorer. Golden needs to get it going again.

4. Tatum played and scored fairly well, again. I don't expect him to do that every game, though.

5. Washpun is a shut down defender. He needs to learn how to score so he can be on the floor more. We really need better defense on the opponent's PG.

6. Hall actually finished at the rim today. It would be huge if he scored about 10 a game.

7. Maymon has great hands. He can take a pass and put up a solid shot very quickly. Which leads me to....

8. Golden CAN be an assist machine. If he focuses on finding others, teams will start to back off and leave him room to drive.

9. Gibbs finished this game for Pitt. His late second half scoring and the turnover of Golden on our possession with a few seconds left were game changers.

10. Robinson got more offensive rebounds than Tennessee. He also scored off of those rebounds. He and Gibbs are going to lead them to many wins this year....

11. We'll win some of these games eventually....

3 & 8 conflict, IMO. Would prefer Golden to distribute and pick his shots instead of pressing the issue.

Looked like our shoes were nailed to the floor on the defensive glass. Bigs were consistently off the floor late.

Golden had 29 points AND 10 assists in his best game. Dishing the ball effectively will open him up to drive and score, imo.

Who knows? Stokes was at the game and might enroll for the second semester. If he is cleared to play, we could have a hell of a January run, imo....

It's not like guys who are great scorers AND great defenders are a dime-a-dozen. To think Martin will recruit them by the handful is a little silly. Furthermore, Martin's teams at Missouri State were middle-of-the-pack defensive teams, so its not as if he demands great defensive performances night in and night out, or at least his teams don't play like he does. Not at Tennessee, not at Missouri State. This a pattern going on four years, not just 8 games.
