Pooch's Punts on 3rd Down...

1. We are the Willie Ames to Charleston's Scott Baio.

2. The difference between the early season solid performances and the recent losses is Trae Golden. It's obvious, I know, but his play has lacked any confidence of late.

3. Kenny Hall is officially a bust.

4. Good games from Miller And McBee.

5. McRae really impressed me tonight.

6. Maymon needed to dominate inside for the whole game on not just the first half. Aaaaarrrrgggghhh.

7. We have 4 winnable games coming up where we need to just let 'er rip. I think we're all worried about Asheville, though.....

8. Any postseason hopes are looking really bleak at this point.

9. I liked the way we didn't quit. McRae and McBee did a lot to get us back in the game.

10. Wiggins shot 83% and had 8 rebounds to go with his 24 points.

Tennessee lost to C of C at home with McD's two all-american starters by 13 last year, we lose by six at their place to maybe a better team...

But hey, it's all bad coaching.

The 14 to 1 run by COC in the 2nd half ruined us. We played well for most of the first half. Couldn't overcome the 2nd half meltdown....

Sadly enough, we played a good first half defensively, save for the last 5 minutes. Then we pissed it all that good effort away with that slop we saw in the second half.

I'm not ready to call it all bad coaching because Kenny Hall and Trae Golden's abysmal play in the second half killed us. However, Martin's questionable, and that's putting it nicely, personnel decisions in the second half were costly. He lost this one from the bench as well, and yet some our fans want to turn a blind eye towards that fact.

Yet Pearl did the same thing with players. Hell, he kept starting Cam Tatum last year and he wasn't doing anything.

Do you really want Wes Washpun playing 20 MPG?

I do agree about the Hall decision though. Wasn't a good call.

No, I readily admit that Golden is the best option, unfortunately. The personnel decision I was questioning was playing Hall over Miller. I also believe Tatum should come off the bench because he and McRae are the same player, just like Hopson and Tatum were last year when they started together. They should be subbing for each other, not playing on the floor at the same time.

1. We surely earned the win tonight after being way down in the first half. Obviously, the halftime adjustments were heard loud and clear today.

2. Maymon had a solid game with 10 pts. and 13 rebs. If we saw that from him consistently, we would be above .500 at this point of the season.

3. Golden was awful except for the one drive to the basket and the free throws at the end of the game. I will give him a bit of a break because he does have a broken nose and he did have 5 assists. He's nowhere near an All-SEC performer. He needs to stop jacking up threes and distribute the ball. Here's to his own, personal comeback game against ETSU!

4.We HAVE to work on having guys come back to help on the press and setting screens on inbound plays. It was painful to watch a few of the late game awkward exchanges.

5. Woolridge, Tatum and Hall accounted for 46 of our 72 points. Wow.....

6. Expect Woolridge, Tatum and Hall to account for about 11 against ETSU....

7. McRae took the night off. Hopefully he'll be well rested for the next 3 games and when Memphis comes to town.

8. There has been a lot of Cuonzo hate going on recently. He beat a team that Pearl didn't without Hopson, Harris, Williams & Goins. I thought he did a great job of rallying the team in the second half.

9. J.P. Primm was awesome. Why the hell did he go completely under the recruiting radar and end up at UNC-Asheville?

My impression of this team tonight and proceeding nights. If every man plays hard for the entire time they are on the court, we win most games and we're in the AA tourney. Almost every player we have takes time off during the game. Happened last year, too. If you're going to wear my school's colors, play hard or go home!! Just my opinion, Pooch. It's hard being a fan and supporting a team that plays hard when it wants to and takes off too many sets.

We play at Memphis not in Knoxville.

Who has Cuonzo beaten that Pearl didn't beat so far? Pearl never lost to UNC-Asheville. UT has never lost to UNC-Asheville...ever.

2. Their starting posts players were C 6'4", PF 6'5". He should have had a career night.

8. Pearl didn't lose to UNCA. The hatred for Pearl is amazing that people will post anything to downgrade him
and boost martin.

I'm tired of it too and not even a big BP fan.
Really hoping BP's work on recruiting Stokes pays off.

Yeah and I'm sick and tired of people (like yourself) bringing Pearl up and bashing Martin after only a few games into his FIRST season. I wish both things would stop tbh...

Pooch, if it were up to me, I'd punt you on 2nd down.

You may have been thinking of CofC. Didn't we lose to them last year?

That's right. His well coached team lost to an even ****tier team in UNC Charlotte with all those great players and seniors! Go Bruce!

Rather than be a smart ass, why not just admit you were wrong and take your lumps? Or is that approach too mature for you?
