My understanding was that redshirts could practice with the team. When did this change? In the old days, academic redshirts or partial qualifiers couldn’t practice with the team, but that’s not what we’re talking about here.
Honest question, how typical is it that RS guys make the 40 man? I can only find 3; Sloop, Chapman and Hunley (maybe Backus? don’t really don’t know what his status was). If CTV was truly RS them would there be a reason to be on the 40 man? Perhaps the ones you would pull the RS off of in a pinch are the ones you put on the 40 man?look you guys are missing the entire point here
the 3 kids I named didn’t make the 40 man roster. They were cut before the season started. One went on to Walters and the other two presumably finished the semester classes. They can’t legally practice with the team if they aren’t on the 40man

He continually changes the subject and omits to answer questions when he is caught out like you caught him out. Preacherman asked him for examples since there were so many according to Bruin. The only 2 he could come up with were exactly Zellem and Ebbing. That's why he didn't answer your question, and changed the subject to your guess that he may have also meant Miller. That is a hallmark troll move. He had later added as his third example Gagen; but then he corrected himself and said, well, Gagen went to pitch at Walter State. When he was asked: Couldn't the others (of Bruin's imagination) have done that too, Bruin again didn't answer.(Zellem and Ebbing) were redshirted so could practice with the team and Ryan Miller was on the roster. What 3 were you referring to?

So he has no examples. He skipped the entire season posting here. He came in full bore attacking CTV non-stop when the portal opened. He also said (accidentally) (it was an irrefutable implication, not directly stated) that he opposed "the only way Tennessee could win" baseball games (in his opinion). That is about as antagonistic as one can get. All of this garbage amounts to him being angry that we are winning. His initial attack when he returned was cheering new rules against early commitments because, he charged, Vitello was "the worst" about that. He was ill-willed and feckless enough to call Preacherman a liar yesterday.
His posts -- negative and attacking -- in the past few days now total 15 pages at about 20 posts per page, if you look at his post history. As long as someone answers him, he will overrun a thread with his anti-Vitello and anti-Vol garbage.
He has a history of doing this same garbage in football in the past. But I think most people there now ignore him, which may be why he is all-the-sudden here. He skipped all of last football season because we were winning. Just like he skipped this past baseball season with the great second half and the CWS win.
It's weird that he thinks he is clever. If anyone answers him, he takes that as winning. I won't mention him again. I just wanted you to know that you were right about Zellem and Ebbing, and that this is how he rolls.
Depends when they were told
By rule tv doesn’t have to announce
His 40man until the day before the first game.
But even if they were told at the end of November they might still choose to stay since the NCAA doesn’t allow mid year transfers. NAIA or juco is the only Option and that’s a shame
By rule they can still work with the strength and conditioning staff and access facilities they just can’t travel or practice with the team
So, with a 40-man roster, do you suggest that we recruit 10 players per year and then call it a day? Because I don't think that would work out too well for us. You yourself noted at the beginning of all this banter that this is the only approach that will give us any shot of success, so I don't know what the point is.
CTV is the head coach of an SEC baseball team. He has to live in the real world where there are limitations and intense competition, and he doesn't have the luxury of living in a fantasy world where everyone is guaranteed to hit the field.
Our recruits have elected to take on the challenge of competing at the highest level of college baseball and I applaud them for that. It's no secret to anyone that it's not going to work out for all of them. If it doesn't work out, then thankfully they now have the opportunity to transfer in search of a better fit. You might consider that learning under our top notch coaching staff and with resources available at UT may benefit these guys even if they have to head elsewhere to play.
I’ve always said I think there is a difference between oversigning by 5 per class and by 10 per class. Tv is always on the high end
BUT as long as the NCAA has their head in the ass and don’t change the rules I don’t blame him. I just won’t support it
