Nope. Couldn’t care less. Don’t really care if he goes #1 or #100 since he isn’t a Vol anymore.

I thought about posting a week or so ago that it felt like the pitching in the sec would be down next year but I though better of it because I don’t know the rosters in and out

But after seeing this list it does appear to me that the sec might be “down” next year on the mound.

I think it’s early. New names will rise. Freshmen will possibly change the equation. I don’t think a single person realistically expected Chase Dollander and Chase Burns to be as good as they were in 2022 their first year here. People knew they’d be good, but not THAT good. Same with Drew Beam.

With Paul Skenes gone, you probably won’t have a single dominant guy like that in the league, so I guess in that sense he’s pitching will be down.

I don’t think we will hear much on Holman until he decides. And it could be any hour now. I’d imagine he’s gonna take his other visits. I had heard that we should know where he’s going by the end of the week, and I’ve heard that the vols definitely feel good…

But visits to Starkville and BR won’t be fun to sweat through

I think if he had made no visits which was originally the plan he would definitely be a vol. and I still think he will be a vol but obviously visits can change things

I do think you’re both right. You never know who will emerge and the sec will always have good pitchers, but a lot of the leagues best teams last year lost their best pitchers to early round draft picks. Florida, LSU, Vandy, Arkansas, even SC and then obviously the vols.

I think if he makes it to Baton Rougue it’s not a good sign, but also I don’t think it’s that common for someone to have 3 official visits planned and then not take them. At least baseball feels a lot different than football in that manner.

We also didn’t “feel good” when Amick took all his visits and that worked out for us. So you just never really know. Going to be a stressful week. I want to beat out LSU head to head for a transfer they really want for once.

Well they’re penciling in a kid who hasn’t taken a single AB or played a single inning at SS in college over taking this guy. They think Guidry is really good, but that kind of shows you this Hill kid isn’t the no brainer starter a lot of people seem to think he is
Yes, I've reevaluated my stance on Hill. I thought he had the potential to grow into an all conference level player in time. Now that he's gone to Ole Miss, I've decided he must be a bum!

Decide any hour now?

I think he’s a vol regardless of what happens this week. Feel good about our chances

Ben McKee I don’t think really knows what he’s talking about when it comes to that kid. I’m not sure how you could say you wouldn’t want Moore at SS, but then say getting Luke Hill would be a big time pickup

Luke Hill had 13 errors in conference play

The concept of Moore working this fall and winter at SS is not as ludicrous as they think. He made tremendous strides at 2B from the beginning to end of the season. He has history of playing SS in prep ball. I’m not saying it will happen or even should happen, but making it sound like CMo is incapable of playing SS is ignorant in my opinion.

Yes I agree. I do not think he will play SS because they won’t need him to. And I think they’ll need him more at 2B or probably the outfield (I think he plays LF this year), but to say Luke Hill would easily slot into SS and then say Christian moore has zero shot to play SS in the same sentence is flat out not true

I believe you have CMo in LF, a newcomer at SS, Denton at 2B. If Denton doesn’t return it’ll be interesting to see where CMo plays in that case

Why? Other than you just stirring the pot? Why will it sting? We know what Burns has and what we'll miss. Him going #1 or #201 doesn't really change that. In fact, I hope that top-20 goes exactly as predicted since Burns doesn't affect us one bit. I think I counted 5 LSU recruits in there plus Tommy Tanks. I'd trade Burns going #1 for them to lose all that potential talent 11 times out of 10.

Well, here we go. What we’ve all been waiting for. About as glowing of a review as you could hope for but feels like a lot of words and fluff when you understand that LSU is going to write him a blank check and his decision might come down to the staff he likes most or LSU’s money truck.

Luke and his family had a great time here at Tennessee. Spent the entire day yesterday with Tony Vitello and staff and the visit didn't end until late evening. Luke and his family have really bonded with both TV and Frank Anderson over the weeks and respect their recruiting style. They recognize the staff is aggressive of course, but they are not over the top and that is what separates them from some other programs in the SEC. They like that - a lot. Luke loved the campus and the city and is excited about what Tennessee could be next year. Really enjoyed getting to know Q as well and learning about the S&C program. Notes that other programs aren't as invested as Tennessee. So, it went really really well and I don't think Tennessee could have done any better. I would definitely name Tennessee as the favorite right now, imo - as it has been for a while.

With that being said, Luke and his family want to see every option out there and hear from every program. Just to check all the boxes in this recruiting process. He wants to be comfortable as this will be his final year in college (most likely) as he'll be a first rounder next summer. The plan is to take the weekend to decide after a week's worth of visits. LSU (of course) is the biggest competition and Jay Johnson is coming at him hard. That visit will be crucial. Luke will be at Mississippi State this afternoon, LSU tomorrow, Auburn (new player here, but down the leaderboard imo) on Thursday and will meet with Alabama one final time before taking a few days to decide.

I would say Tennessee is the leader but must survive this week. He couldn't say enough nice things about TV.

Good stuff. Kudos to the kid and his family for seriously checking out their options so that in their own minds they’ve thoroughly done what is best for them. With recruiting you never know, but the coaches and staff have given it their all for Holman, so we will just have to wait and see.

It bodes well that he's going to Starkville and Baton Rouge in mid-July. He'll be able to float outta town on his own sweat
