Skenes was a top 20 pick on mocks coming out of last summer. He wasn’t a run of the mill college pitcher. He was the #3 pitching prospect in the draft. He was the most coveted transfer in the portal last summer for a reason.

Because he was multi-faceted. There’s not many dudes hitting .300 with power while also being able to throw mid-90’s. Again, who are you sitting for him basis July 2022? It’s an easy hindsight decision now given the year he had and the way Burns and at times Doe struggled this year.

To play in the field. Tommy White didn’t help them to a title with his glove and he won’t make it in the league with his glove. He had a spot here to hit all he wanted. He didn’t want to just hit. So you’re starting a dude in the field who wasn’t good enough to see the field at his prior home and was lousy in the limited time he did, over a guy who’s an experienced, proven defensive commodity in this league? Plus, Zane had already committed so why would you guarantee a starting spot in the field to a guy when you had already gotten a guy for that position.

He should have been told that. You don’t push out a committed veteran player for an unproven (on Defense) immature freshmen. You lose the team when you make false promises. CTV was straight up with White and Skenes. We respect integrity and It’s one of many reasons the players and fans love CTV.

That came from Vitello Sr directly to me that White wanted to play 3B and CTV told him it was likely not to happen (or at minimum wouldn’t be guaranteed). If he could beat out Zane then so be it. Also said the more time he (CTV) spent around him or saw his personality the less of a “loss” it appeared it would be if he didn’t come to UT.

White's bat is good, but his defense at 3B leaves a lot to be desired. He'll never make it to the show with his crap ass D at 3B. He's such an overrated MLB prospect. Bad D makes you lose games, especially when the other team has good pitching and can shut down your offense.
