Portal Activity (News and Rumors)

I waited until after Holman announcement to say anything. I'm only a Noob here and so my observations are FWIW. There wouldn't be so many trolls if they weren't concerned about the trajectory of UT baseball. I'm not ready to crown LSU the forever king of baseball or that LSU will always beat Tennessee in portal recruiting. In fact, they haven't as others have pointed out. I don't believe in generalizations and "always" and "nevers". I'm well aware LSU has more baseball money than God but, as long as CTV is around, LSU will have to work hard for it. I'm thinking that CTV is the most competitive, hard-working, and best coach in college baseball as is the rest of the staff. In the long run, I believe 24/7 work can beat out those who have superior resources and think they are entitled. Tony and Staff are out there working while others are drinking beer and eating crawfish.

CTV turned around the Administration and fans. Top-notch facilities are coming. In my feeble mind, Tennessee already is measuring up with vandy, Florida, South Carolina, the Mississippis, and Arkansas. The SEC gets two more hurdles and past CWS winners in TX and OU next year; until 2023, TX and LSU were tied with 6 titles each. I think the top item on Tony's list has always been winning the CWS and he won't rest until it happens. Then, to borrow a Neyland maxim, he will pour on more steam to do it again. I've heard Tony mention his admiration of Augie Garrido and we know what he did. I believe UT is on the verge of winning the CWS in the not too distant future. And the trolls know it.

Looking forward to another banner year in 2024! GBO!!
@mad4vols can we officially take this guy off the noob list?

This is pretty cool. When you factor in all of the losses other teams took in the draft (and we lost 1 player), we now have the 4th best 2023 recruiting class.

#1 team can't be true? This beautiful stadium only holds 1838......Just asking for a friend.

Going to have a great bullpen too I believe. Lots of young guys vying to complement the veteran bullpen group of Causey, Snead, Combs, Kirby, Zander.

Keep an eye on the following throughout the fall. I’d imagine one of these will be the midweek guy if Zander gives that up (not sure what their plan is there) and 3-4 of them probably pitch a decent amount of innings out of the pen this year:

Hunter Sloop (RHP)
JJ Garcia (RHP)
Austin Hunley (RHP)
Derek Schaefer (RHP)
Matt Dallas (LHP) - i believe he will be the Sunday guy
Bryson Thacker (LHP)
Andrew Behnke (LHP)
Brayden Sharp (LHP)
Dylan Loy (LHP)

This list includes lots of guys who are either killing summer ball leagues, played well in limited innings last year, or are highly regarded incoming freshmen (a few of whom gave up real money to come to campus)

And the wildcard in all of this is Wyatt Evans. I’ve heard a few mixed things, but honestly don’t know much so don’t want to speculate. But if he is healthy and focused, that’s another big time arm whether it’s out of the pen or as a Sunday starter

1) I love that we’re finally getting a bunch of lefties. That’s been my biggest concern the last couple years, regarding the pitching staff.
2) For that reason, I’m excited about Dallas earning a Sunday role. He’s obviously a high end talent who could give us a big time lefty arm as a starter. We haven’t had that since Crochet.
3) Trip Brown is another one to throw in that mix. He’s a JUCO who some thought might get drafted.

They never went after tony. Literally every reporter has admitted that by now
False. The reports from media is the narrative they wanted to be out there. It's semantics. They do it all the time. You speak to a candidate's representative. You gauge their interest. They discuss derails. The candidate ends up saying they are not interested. Then the school says they never OFFERED the job. You know how that works. Don't be dense. You believe it in this situation because that's what you want to believe so that you were right.

He was the ring leader of the “Tony is going to LSU” brigade for about 6 weeks in 2021 and now he wants to pretend that LSU was never interested.
