Portal Activity (News and Rumors)

I have a connection to an MLB scout. He said each team has to determine whether he’s a starter. He said that going to the bullpen does raise questions that will be asked. He compared it to a CB that is moved to Safety.

However, he graduated from an SEC school and knows the conference. He said LSU will no doubt offer money and tell him that we don’t think he’s good enough.

So is Burns for sure gone? I've been disconnected the last several hours.

Per Ben McKee:

Two baseball transfers to keep an eye on are Wichita State RHP Nate Snead and Alabama RHP Luke Holman.
Snead was really good for the Shockers out of the bullpen as a freshman this past season. Began a visit on Thursday and I believe it has gone really, really well.

Holman's name emerged this afternoon. I don't believe Tennessee is as far down the road with Holman as they are Snead, but I do believe they're going to have a really good chance at landing Holman. Would be a huge addition. Holman was Alabama's Friday nigh
t guy and struck out 87 in 81 innings. Opponents hit .186 off of him.
Holman would be a pretty big get

It’s not that simple it’s about draft $

If he’s seen as a starter he’s a 1-1 potential draft. A reliever doesnt sniff that spot

But this isn’t his draft yr. He’d be the starter next yr. He was clearly struggling at mid season. The change woke him up but if he’s finished here, so be it.

That’s kind of an odd response since I know one. The conversations I had with him in Omaha in 2021 were fascinating, and the analytics used now are crazy. He qualified it by saying that each team has to judge that, which makes total sense. All it takes is one.

Not controlling the running game is a huge issue. However it's hard to argue with the numbers Frank's staffs have put up.
His pitch calling to me is questionable at times as well.
I’ve spoken to several MLB Scouts who tell me that CFA is one of the best, most respected pitching coaches in college baseball. Some outright say he’s the best. Based on his awards. past success both as a Head Coach and Assistant, and overall stellar results, I trust CFA. He’s not perfect but he’s pretty special at his profession.

The running game is my one complaint. We essentially turn walks and singles into doubles for anyone with even just above average speed.
