Released to go visit schoolsIf he doesn’t come to Tennessee, I will absolutely blame you.
No idea why he was released. Could have been on a temp contract, maybe needed a break. I don’t know. Other guys in the portal are playing and getting scouted.
PS: to play it safe, @fryeguy93 , I hope you know I’m joking in the blue font
Going to TCU. Vols tried but honestly probably best for all. Burns agent is a real issue and I feel bad for that kid honestly. Getting some really poor adviceTalks about LSU targeting Chase Burns.
LSU Baseball: Transfer Portal Additions, New Target Emerges (msn.com)
I sincerely hope he does not go there, but IF he does, I hope we face him at some point and just shellack his ass. Balloon that ERA up.
But not bitter about it. I wish that on every pitcher we face, just a little more on him.
Great bat and pretty smooth glove too. They love him and I think he will be a big time player. I think he for sure will factor into the SS convo. But we will see if he’s ready to be an everyday SS on a top 5 team in the sec. Might be another year away. Big potential thoughI really like what I saw from Kendro when he played a little bit. Not sure how he is defensively but at bats looked promising as a freshman.
Billy Amick is an interesting prospect.
It seems a little odd he would leave a program with a solid head coach and tangible recent success. However he is in the portal.
I have read three articles and a Clemson baseball forum to find out why he is leaving. Clemson fans are in various stages of grief and there is only opinion as to why he is leaving.
Apparently, Amick had little playing time (9 games) his freshman year. He DHed and played 1B. He batted below the Mendoza line and was not considered as a factor for this year.
Of course he is hitting over 400 this year and is a big piece of Clemson"s plan going forward. His entering the portal appears as a surprise to everyone. His head coach flew to the Cape to meet with him this week. If the meeting occurred Amick has not changed his mind.
The consensus seems to be Amick wants to play third base. Blake Wright a 3 year player for Clemson (2b , SS ) may be returning next year and is projected as a third baseman at the next level. (This is all speculation from Clemson fans).
SC beat writers seem to believe Amick is a perfect fit for the Gamecocks. Although they have a third baseman, the belief is that SC's third baseman would change positions to get Amick.
If Amick decides to play at Tennessee, and Zane Denton returns... hopefully Zane would consider a middle infield position.
how would Zane fit in the middle infield? I can’t see him or CMo playing short. And CMo is going to play everyday.Billy Amick is an interesting prospect.

Amick does not want to play 1B. Clemson wants him there. If Denton is back there’s a decent chance he’s at 2B whether they get Amick or not. Vols like him there better. Not sure Dentons thoughts on that and if it will factor into his decision whether to return. I imagine this has communicated and he’s on board (obviously he’s gonna have a set number and leave if he gets it)Billy Amick is an interesting prospect.

They want Zane to play 2B. They like his glove, but don’t love his arm. A sentiment out there that some pro scouts feel the same. You’re right CMo is going to play everyday. They are going to see if his athleticism can translate to the OF. They love his athleticism but I’m not sure they love the glove at 2B. I do think you’re right that CMo is playing every day. If he can’t translate to OF then he’s going to stick at 2Bhow would Zane fit in the middle infield? I can’t see him or CMo playing short. And CMo is going to play everyday.
Who do you see as the starting rotation. Obviously Beam and I’m assuming Russel as well? With the third spot to be determined?Amick does not want to play 1B. Clemson wants him there. Galanie will be a vol. not sure exactly what their pitch is, but I think if they land Amick, he’s the 3B. If Denton comes back, they hope to put him at 2B (totally dependent on CMo ability to play OF) and that kind of leaves Galanie as an odd man out. He could play RF and Tears DH or vice versa.
Again as I’ve been saying, this roster is going to have an embarrassment of riches. It’s imperative to get another arm or two - Causey could start but I think it’d be huge to have him out of the pen. Hopefully land Holman but it’s a battle. Figuring out SS is the other thing in the agenda. But this roster will be loaded and a true threat for another Omaha run. Not sure the bullpen will be quite as good as this year (Halvorsen and Burns were about as good as you can get there, plus Sewell/Russell/Kirby/Combs) but I feel confident that the lineup top to bottom will be better
That’s interesting. I haven’t heard much on Amick other than visiting. Maybe the visit is to hash all that out. Vols will land Galanie and with that they’re covered at 3B either way. I know some guys who played for Tony V (and I know we have people who know guys who did/do play for him that are WAY closer than I am) but if I had to bet I think Tony learned a lot of lessons this year. I do agree I have a hard time seeing him bringing someone in who he might consider a chemistry risk. From what I’ve gathered from Amick’s cousin that I happened to be friends with (my cousin went to Batesburg-Leesville HS with the Amicks. They’re a wealthy family in that area) and my several friends who are invested in Clemson baseball… There’s not much difference in how Clemson sees Amick and how we see Chase Burns.
Amick was a starter who batted .400 but was unhappy with Bakich for some unknown reason. (People seem to think it’s his playing 1B, but no one’s told me that explicitly that I’ve talked to.) His cousin told me that he’s primarily interested in NIL money.
So with Tony Vitello saying he doesn’t want NIL minded guys, and the Burns situation causing locker room issues all season… why is Amick a take? They seem to be mirror image situations from what I’ve gathered.
Yep, Beam obviously and I’d be pretty shocked if Russell isn’t starting. Never say never because if they have two good starters who wanna transfer I’m not sure they’d turn that down and Russell has already proven all-American status out of the penWho do you see as the starting rotation. Obviously Beam and I’m assuming Russel as well? With the third spot to be determined?
Why don't you want us to have good things? From what I’ve gathered from Amick’s cousin that I happened to be friends with (my cousin went to Batesburg-Leesville HS with the Amicks. Honestly don’t know the kid or anyone who knows him. I know TN wants him bad and have met with him. But everyone is on him. The ones I’ve heard or read are Miss St and Arkansas, but I definitely think you can never count LSU out. They’ve been awfully quiet on the portal trail thus far and given what they’re losing I do not think it’ll stay that way - and people who know way more than me agreeIf not here, where do you think he lands? LSU? We know if it comes down to NIL they'll win.
