I was in the middle of adding Nate to the 2023 Transfers tab of my spreadsheet when his profile page was immediately removed from the Wichita State roster on the Wichita State baseball website. That was QUICK!

It’s not about respect, they were #2 to start last season and absolutely weren’t that good when the season began. They were top 5 good by the end, but I wouldn’t have even ranked them based on their first half of season performance.

‘24 team will need time just like this team did.

Maybe, maybe not. The roster talent deserves top 10 if we land all these guys.

I'm glad to have the talent but having all these mercenaries coming in just because of a check isn't as fun. I'd rather be seeing guys we've gotten to know the last 2 or 3 years.

No offense, but I don't see how any poster can comment on Tony V or Frank Anderson's communication skills with their players unless they were in the room during the conversations. Based on every interview I've seen with Vitello, his communication skills are elite. I don't think that changes behind closed doors. Not sure why fans want to speculate in the negative constantly. A kid transfers for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's just a bad fit. Doesn't mean TV isn't being up front in his discussions with players. Kids want to play. Kids want to be starters. Kids want to be closer to home. Happens. It's not always coaching malfeasance. Gotta say that the proof is in the pudding for me. TV and Anderson know how to recruit, build a roster and win. Their record speaks for itself. Personally, I'm as happy as a hog in slop because I remember Rods tenure all the way to TV. I appreciate the hell outta what we have right now. Burns is gone. Good luck to him but I'm not about to condemn, question or fault our staff in thos situation. They did what was best for this program and if a player gets upset, too bad. That's what the portal is for.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean it was some huge negative. Nor am I condemning, questioning, or faulting the staff.

Simply- its something they can and will likely get better at. In the grand scheme of things, Vitello is still growing as a coach and that isn't a bad thing at all.

My position is based on the words of a player (granted its just one). They weren't super mad or anything, but most communication led them to believe they'd see more time than they did. They read the writing on the wall and decided to move on. No ill will or hurt feelings.

That's why included what I did about how taxing the season was on the coaching staff. I get why certain things would slip through the cracks. I genuinely don't think they've faced a season like this in their time here, which makes the ultimate result that much more impressive.

I don’t think Snead is coming for a check. Higher level of competition and we get him for 2 years. Wants to be developed by the best imo.

Tony's idea of rebound, apparently, is to bring home the entite cheer squad, as it were, in a matter of days. I love the portal. I think it helps us big time.

since it likely came down to Arkansas and Tennessee, I bet it had to play a part though.

May we ask you to open your transfers tabs and double check your entries for Galanie, Holman, and Amick. Prolly as long as you have a cursor in there or an open file, it will do the job.

If we could get Luke Holman, we'd be a top 3 SEC preseason team. If we could get Holman and Amick we would be a favorite. LSU and Florida and replacing some "key" guys to say the least.

By the way, Amick has been crushing on the Cape so far.

One thing that will be interesting to watch will be how the rotation shakes out if we do get all these arms.

Heck, four weeks ago, LSU's bullpen was trash and they were gonna go 1-2 and home. But that's baseball.

I tend to take the more palatable although somewhat naive stance that we're trading a guy who wants out for a guy who wants in and that it has nothing to do with money.
