Tennessee's next SS may be in the 2023 recruiting class. There are five player listed as SS.

Dean Curley listed by PG as the 123rd best prospect with a 9.5 grade.
Blake Grimmer listed by PG as the 124th best prospect and a grade of 10.
Ariel Antqua listed as the 132nd best prospect with a grade of 10.

Camden Bates listed by PG as the 363rd best prospect with an 8.5 grade.
Carson Rucker listed by PG as the 443rd best prospect but not graded.

A grade of 9.5 and 10 indicate you are and elite college prospect and should be drafted high in the MLB draft. If we can get one of Curley, Grimmer or Antqua on Campus that will be our SS.

Carlson Rucker is Jake's little brother and is ranked the best SS in the state of Tennessee. If he gets on campus he may win the SS job at some point in his career.
Camden Bates is another player who could be a factor if committed to the long game.
I agree , some interesting parts to fill the ss position

7 HR and 25 RBIs in one month something has changed.
Adjustment to college is tough enough. Toss in playing a sport...in the SEC...and baseball at that and it's tougher for some guys. Give 'em a year or so for the dust to settle and kids can often times make a real jump. Wouldn't write him off just yet.

Maybe this guy helps us out next year also. Redshirted this year after coming in from Walters State

Thanks for the update on Backus. Always thought he would be a big part of the 2023 team.

Just for perspective, Billy Amick went 2 for 19 his freshman year at Clemson and finished with a .108 batting average. He started this year with only one plate appearance in the first 12 games. He finished the season batting .413 and is arguably the hottest prospect in the portal.

Let's hope the game has slowed down for Backus and he will excel this year.

Exactly right.

Happy Bobby Bonilla day.
Interesting. I was actually at a Cardinals-Mets game in St. Louis when Bonilla became the first $6 million player that year (someone correct me if I’m wrong). Bonilla was at the plate and hit a nice, tidy ground ball to Ozzie Smith. Bonilla loafed to first and Ozzie proceeded to mishandle the ball, but still had time to throw Bonilla out easily. I just shook my head thinking the guy makes 6 mill and can’t run a play out. Now they’re still paying the guy.

Paid players aren't as hungry.

Respectfully disagree with you. If he gets drafted in the 4th round, he will sign with MLB. They very rarely draft someone that high unless they know they can sign them. Otherwise, they lose that draft slot money, and they abhor doing that.
We are talking about same thing if he decides to stay and be drafted or go to Tennessee. I am sure Tony is waiting decision. In CHRIST Alone

You are one of the very very few that saw Ozzie mishandle a ball. In my top five favorite Cardinals.

Not sure if anyone has seen but Blade Tidwell is tearing it up for the Mets minor league. Has to look good for us and recruiting.
I don't wish ill on him, but I suspect Burns will regret his decision to leave somewhere down the line. Love him or hate him Anderson can develop pitchers.

MLB.com has Rucker as a top 150 draft prospect this year. PG might be a little off on their ranks.

PG last updated their rankings in mid-April. I'm sure Rucker would be rated higher if they do an update before the draft.
