Why do we freak out about high school recruiting if you always want to replace a starter with a transfer rather than a young player on your roster? It seems like anytime we don’t have a returning starter at a position some immediately want to get transfer to fill that role.

Because most of the time our fans have no clue how to run a sports program

AP said this morning that Daune Morris has already flashed in the couple days of practice. He was asked who stood out so far among the EEs and said the coaches noticed Morris talent immediately.

Is Justin Baker not an EE...or is Morris just further along right now at RB? They look like similar backs to me on tape. Both are shifty...quick...and fast.

I doubt it. 1100 yards in a Group of 5 school isn't all that special. He'll be a popular name for sure though.

A thousand yard 10 td rb is a lot more valuable in CFB than the NFL, ie teams will pay more, proportionally, for them

This kid is a top 5 portal back and so far the cheapest of that lot is asking $500k a year base with a bonus structure that exceeds a million

I’ve said this numerous times, but Morris was severely under ranked. He’s got the same traits Sampson had coming in and he’s more dynamic as a receiver

I agree about looking like Sampson. In an interview this week, Hyatt said that when Sampson was just a freshman he was immediately impressed at how good Sampson was catching the ball out of the backfield. We should throw the ball to him way more than we do IMO. Especially in 12 personnel when we already have extra blockers to protect Nico. Hopefully we throw it to him this week... he better have great ball security though. OSU is gonna try to punch and strip the ball on every carry he has IMO.

This guy is eligible for the draft. If we likely to get drafted, he would entered. He was also in the portal last year and stayed in Utah. An extra year at Utah St hasn't suddenly made him a top tier RB.

How do we know what the these RBs are asking for? The current crop of portal RBs isn't super impressive.

It’s being widely reported what many of them are asking for + benefits (family tickets to all games, flights, accommodations, driver to practice, etc)

He’s going to get paid somewhere in the ballpark of a guaranteed $500,000 and additional $250-500 in supplementary benefits. I’d imagine there are a few championship seeking teams that have the budget and the needs at RB to throw a bag at a one year kid that can help them with that goal.

Yeah our RB room has done well at developing HS guys. More misses have happened with transfers there than any other group.

Many of who? RBs in general or we talking all positions.

I can promise from speaking with folks that are in the know, college athletes aren't getting paid what a lot of folks think they are.

It’s also a hard year as a RB in the draft. It’s loaded. If you’re a 5th rounder+ you’re not doing better in the league financially even if you are one year closer to a second contract

What RBs are getting close to NFL league minum in college? Can you name someone specifically that you 100% know is getting that much?
