I agree that would be the sell. Not sure I agree that his pedigree demands the kind of money Tennessee is paying him. A school would have to be desperate and believe they could unlock his potential. Buying on potential a QB that Josh Heupel can't seemingly unlock would feel like a tough proposition. Just not sure that's a likely move, but desperation can make men do unreasonable things. He’d get a good deal. Plenty of teams need a QB and his pedigree alone would command it.
Teams would sell him on development and would buy in that our offense is “hurting” him
Best post in this thread in awhile.the laughing stock, in the playoffs. let's not pretend we played in the gasparilla bowl folks. yes we go throttled, by a title contender on road in their house.
i was just thinking about how good it feels to beat bama and florida. think about that. don't ever forget that feeling. freaking hate both those programs. no matter what, they lost. and that's what's important.
I just want us to seize the momentum. Stop playing holier than thou, as we are too good to take take talented players. Go get the best, capitalize
You're not wrong...the WRs are pitiful, but it's naive to believe that Nico isn't part of the problem, as is the OL and the playcalling hasn't helped. If you see much of the all-22 angle of plays, many times there are WRs that are open or coming open. The problem is that we rarely see the WRs get open, Nico progress thru his reads, and the OL adequately block long enough for it to all come together on the same play. One of those things breaks down on nearly every dropback snap against good teams.Nico isn’t the problem
We have no game changers at WR
22 team had 2 NFL WRs with speed to burn
This teams WRs are slow long striders which no team fears…..
Oline needs massive upgrades also especially at RT and both guards
And then the most obvious question...why can't those guys get on the field and make plays, now? Talent ahead of then is clearly an issue, so why aren't they getting opportunities to make plays?I’ve seen a lot of people say this, but are we really sure they’re going to be a step up talent wise from what we had? I don’t watch a ton of tape, so maybe they are, but I feel like Webb and Nimrod were also 4-star receivers that never panned out. Squirrel has been fine, but nothing truly special. I keep hearing we have young talent coming in and it’s going to get better, but either the talent isn’t what we hope it to be or the development is several lacking. Only explanation for the huge lack of production from that unit for 2 years.
RS freshman vs true freshman. Nico has now been in our program for 24 months. Why is that Nico is the only young quarterback that gets criticized for mistakes. Everybody acts like Lagway is a quarterback god and he threw 9 ints in about half a season but everyone seems to shrug that off and gives him a pass
It was actually 2 weeks before. And we beat Kentucky by double digits in a game that was never in question. Also, that same Alabama team shredded Georgia's defense for 41 points. In regards to Bama's defense, they did shut out Missouri and hold LSU to 13 points in a night game at Baton Rouge the two consecutive weeks after we beat them. The point is, there is no need to downplay Nico's accomplishments or diminish our team's victories. We all know Nico, as well as the team, has room for improvement. For me, after losing 16 in a row to Bama and 16 out of 17 to Florida, I will never downplay any wins against either of those teams. As a reminder, we have won 2 out of 3 against both with one of those coming against Saban.True but that Kentucky team also played Georgia to a one point loss the week before…

We've been to Jax. Orlando. Tampa. We've got the Tshirts. That's Kentucky, SC, and Gator fodder.Spot on-Playoffs.
Yesterday was cool until the better team outplayed us and better coordinators clowned ours. But I heard some folks saying they wish we had not made the playoffs to get embarrassed like that. Please. We got three weeks of free pub.
Would have been better going to Orlando, Tampa or Jacksonville for some meaningless bowl with opt outs and dozens of transfers? No.
And who wasn’t in the playoffs? Bama, Gators and Kiff.
A “cup of coffee”? Sure but it’s better than the alternative.
Now let’s sharpen the pencils and go get some dudes. In 1997 we took the Nebraska beat down and then hit the weight room. In 2024, let’s take this beat down and go find the checkbook.
A lot of the negative stuff being said about Squirrel is justified but it also reminds me of stuff that was said about Hyatt after the 2021 season. Of course Hyatt put his head down and went to work. I think Squirrel could do the same thing and really turn it around. I hope he does, because he does have the physical ability to be a difference maker.Im with yall, he’s horrible. He cant catch the ball without falling, and if he doesnt fall he either heads for the sideline the second a defender gets close or he gets hurt when tackled. He is charmin soft
Team desperately needs playmakers. We've found those in past. Think Huep puts too much stock in his guy's evals. Pope falls prey to same problems Martinez, Smellerbee, and like fall. Arrogantly thinking that they can coach everyone up. So stockpiling projects just fills roster spots. Then youve lost a cycle when they leave, then you go to porthole needing to fill 2 cycles at key spots, like every other blue blood. We've been to Jax. Orlando. Tampa. We've got the Tshirts. That's Kentucky, SC, and Gator fodder.
