MM put his vol pics back up on his IG page.

It means he grabbed us by the nads and got what he wanted.

He never “deleted” those photos. They were just hidden, since IG lets you do that.

Like they said last night, it was a money play and it seems like it worked to perfection for him.
Yeah everyone just archives them.

I guess this is just how CFB works now sadly. Someone definitely contacted his agent so he made a play for more money while half the receivers already gone. At least there was more money to give him since all those other receivers left lol 🤷🏻

None to come in(portal wise). I hope they have something in the works at that position. Need about two or three at this point I'd think.

Personally i think he has every right to leverage this into more money. One of the top 3-5 WR out of HS, and we sit him behind Chaz Nimrod. Make your money while you can, UT certainly isn’t a poverty school. A player wanting a pay raise isn’t going to break the bank. That being said, i think there are ways to go about it, and leveraging at the midnight hour is pretty crappy.

If true, good for him. Good business move IMO.

College football is no longer amateur hour. It's a mini business just like it's the mini NFL now. It's time to start treating it as such. So if Matthews stays after all, no hard feelings from me. Dude saw he had leverage to get more money and took it. 80-90% of you would do similar in your profession, and NFL players do similar all the time.

Not saying I'm thrilled with CFB becoming NFL Jr., but it is what it is and the players are doing what anyone who knows their worth (or has a high opinion of themselves) would do.

Or we’ll get to see all the freshman in the two deep. And apparently when most of the young receivers got here the past few years they had no idea which routes to run for most of their first year. Sooo…if the starters get injured we’re screwed 🥲

He has a blitz rate of around 33%. Not 5%. Odd to claim he makes no adjustments given we had numerous comeback wins in SEC play.

It’s almost as if you don’t know what you’re talking about
I'm not disagreeing with the larger point you're looking to make, so don't take this as that, but the comeback wins were far more about the offense that was shutout in the first half of 3 straight games coming to life more than it was about the defense making adjustments. Florida, Bama, Kentucky, Vandy, even Arkansas (which we failed to complete the comeback) were all games where the offense struggled early and then was finally able to put some points on the board. The defense was pretty steady in all those games from half to half.

If Kelsey Pope can't coach 'em up and can't keep 'em on campus what good is he? Does no good if ya recruit top WR talent if they leave after barely seeing the field...and if they are top talent they aren't seeing the field because of bad coaching.

Mike Matthews (assumed)
Squirrel White
Nathan Leacock
Nate Spillman
Chas Nimrod
Kaleb Webb
The only name on that list that concerns me in the slightest is MM, and I expect him to remain a Vol.

Rumor going around campus is that Matthews wants $100,000 for each reception he got this year.
His agent says they were the best 7 catches in the history of SEC Football, & $700,000 a year is a hell of a deal for this Jerry Rice clone..
I think we should pay him whatever he wants, just like we paid Lance Heard.
This post is stupid and shortsighted. His NIL deal isn't about his stats from 2024. It's about his projected impact moving forward.

Sure, to me that says the defense was both prepared and adjusted well throughout the game.

Our fan base has made the “no adjustments” claim (it’s one of their favorites), numerous times throughout the season about both sides of the ball, despite multiple comeback victories. It’s a garbage claim.

Makes me think Nico was actually considering entering the portal OR Matthews received bad info and acted on it.

It wouldn’t surprise to hear that Nico considered it after the WR and OL play this season.
It doesn't do Tennessee or Nico any good now to give the impression that he ever considered it. But if one thinks he didn't, at best, have some strong discussions about the same things we've all seen this year, the solution for those issues, and probably some additional financial incentive, then heads are firmly buried in the sand. Part of those discussions was almost assuredly to make aware that he had other options himself if there was not going to be some changes/improvements on the OL, at WR, and potentially with the neutered offensive scheme.

Now, before the sunshine police accuse me of merely speculating...yes, that is all speculation. But if you think that a guy who (along with his "team") negotiated an alleged $8 million NIL deal as a high school senior isn't looking out for his best interests, well...I think it's highly doubtful he just sat back and hoped for the best.

To me it just says that the defense was well-prepared and executed the gameplan. It doesn't tell me much at all about adjustments. Which isn't a bad thing, either. I just think you're overbaking your argument to say that defensive adjustments spurred our comebacks this season. The defense played pretty well and consistently from start to finish in those games. Adjustments weren't necessarily needed. It was the offense that needed to wake up, and once they did, that, along with the defense maintaining their level of play, is what sparked the comebacks.
