'25 Portal Thread

I rarely post, but dear lawd the gnashing of teeth is reaching the point of criminal! Coaches job is to coach each season to win that season while developing talent for future seasons and putting a product on the field that brings in revenue along with future talent. Nico wasn’t ready in 2023 so we rolled with Milton who we all know is not “better” than Nico. That decision likely resulted in at least 1 extra win, maybe more but “could” have jeopardized relationships/hurt feelings. Same thing happened with the WR room in 2024, if the young guys were doing the things the coaches were asking them to do, were reliable, and obviously more talented than the vets they would have played instead of them. 2025 is the year of the ‘23 WR class, 2024 was not. Talent level at the position is rising, QB is growing, the offense will hum again…. Or coach gets fired in 3 years. Vol_Nation should chill and enjoy the ride. Ya’ll are wild.

If we go out and get a dynamic WR, we risk pushing Brazell or Staley into the Spring portal. Maybe it's worth it, maybe it's not. That's for the coaches to decide.

RB is another question mark. Bishop is solid, but not really an electric, take it to the house type of RB. Lewis has potential, but will he reach it by next season? Again, for the coaches to decide.

If Elarbee has done his job, the OL should be okay. If not, then we need more help there. JMO, but if we HAVE to take another OL, it means Elarbee is failing. (And I lean toward Elarbee needs to be replaced. Good at teaching run block, but not so much pass block.)

We need a DL or two to keep up our ability to rotate in fresh bodies.

I really think we could use a dynamic safety to lead the secondary.

Its definitely worth it. You cant trot three freshmen out there with this offense.

If Matthews returns, he's on one side with Brazzell on the other. Staley and Boo can split reps in the slot. So we have our starters. The only real concern with the WR room is depth if someone gets hurt. Not sure anyone wants to come to be "depth", so we may just have to rely on the freshmen.
branch from USC is a must get. Better than ever WR we have today.

Man I cannot stress enough. This guy knows jack diddly about what’s going on. He’s the one I was referring to earlier. Constantly harasses GA’s/Practice Squad Guys/and the occasional starter. DM’s them nonstop. He has no real connection. Just gets 5th hand info from time to time.
Well how do youuuuu know?

There is a hint about a late add/drop date here. I don’t know which team it is. Who is it people?

Middle aged men wanting to hang out with college girls, a tale as old as thyme.

Cant tell you how many single middle aged mom's used to come into store at Turkey Creek, How many mini-Pearls has Lacy's on their arms. Its morally repugnant, but its human nature.

Sure. Maybe that part is true, maybe it’s not. But if you have valid complaints against someone financially, bringing up their attraction to legal aged women seems a bit lame.

Supposedly that’s 20% of production cost. So IF they’re telling the truth that’s between $.40-$2.00 per item sold. That’s peanuts. However, the way that entire blurb reads, it’s as if someone was scripting a crappy YouTube video of how someone got scammed (think Dharr Mann videos). I whole heartedly agree there needs to be transparency in where the money is going. But don’t know if I truly believe that Spyro, the supposed pioneering NIL driven company, is paying its athletes approximately 5% of their total money made/donated.

Thank you. A couple of drinks in and I misread that.

paying a percentage of production cost makes absolutely no sense and sounds made up..now if it was a percentage of wholesale vs retail price, maybe so.

Most men like the one he was describing taking advantage of the athletes paychecks. Would also likely be taking advantage of young immature women. And it’s honestly weird if you’re close or in your 50s trying to get with 18-22 year old college students . Yeah it’s legal. Still weird.

I’m not yet convinced he’s taking advantage of anyone. I see the claims. I think if they were true, we’d likely end our association with Spyre. Until that occurs or I see more than one anonymous claim, I’ve got no interest in slandering the many as a greedy womanizer who takes advantage of young women
