First I’ve seen this… no idea who this is just came up in a group I’m in
That all sounds like rumors we’ve already heard here on VN the past 24 hours.

I’d ask that we stop spreading social media posts from random profiles online, but I got grilled for “trying to limit the spread of information on a free message board” the last time I did that.

Truth is it’s really hard to discern truth from fiction these days, especially when “information” is spread so wide and quickly, and the line between “insiders/reliable reporters” and “nobodies” seems so thin. Idea adoption, even those founded in falseness, and especially negative ones, is hard to stop when you have a fanbase that cares so much and has been burned so much in recent history. Tough cycle to break.

I will relay this, but take with a grain of salt as I am, ADMITTEDLY, just a normal dude from Knoxville, born and raised.

I work with a couple of guys who are very tight with some bigger name donors to the University who are big time business names in town. They relayed information to my colleague a couple of days ago that Miami did INFORMALLY reach out via “back channels” to Nico via the Mauigoa family. It was apparently more of a Mauigoa family reaching out to the Iamaleava family to express “hey it would be awesome to have our kids play together and Francis could be Nico’s blindside”. It was not official Miami officials or coaches but there was dialogue.

I know nothing other than that but take it with a grain as I’m once removed from actual source but I did read the text messages on the phone between colleague and big name donor
If they want to play together in Knoxville, I’m all for it.

Exactly, i dont see the benefit of him going to Miami... Be runner up to the Heisman, Be the runner up to attend the ACC Title game, and cant make the playoffs.... Yea that doesnt make sense.

The timing of it too was to exert max pressure on Vols. I don’t believe he’s worried about Nico or anything like that at this point. He’s worried about the best deal. Not a fan of how this has been handled by either side.
Just curious, but how do you know how it’s been handled? Are you privy to behind the scenes actions, you know, what really is going on? Surely you know better than rely on public info to make your judgements?

Good G*d. Just go away. You agree with points while ignoring points, and then decide we need to repeat them for the 20th time.

***********************

You asked about losing a position group. Happened last year and it was a benefit. No reason to panic.

Yah. I know. But that was different.

How?

..... Crickets .....

But what about Nico thinking about leaving?

He's staying.

But he thought about leaving b/c of WR room concerns.

(You know that as fact?) But nonetheless... He's staying. Does your logic mean that there is no more reason for concern about the WR room?

... Crickets ...

But the media!

Appeals to authority aren't support for the validity of the argument.

Yah... Well you still haven't given logical reasons not to panick.

Geez, man. I've wasted enough time on you. Sorry.

************************

I'll end with this. Again, you do you.

Bye.
You want me to go away when you are the one that called out my valid question as illogical handwringing and a “crazy, short-sighted take.” Ok.

The DB situation last year actually left some meat on the bone. We are now down to 2 returning WR and 3 incoming freshmen. Just because that worked last year for DB’s, doesn’t make my question about this year’s WR situation illogical.

I am thrilled Nico seemed satisfied enough to stay. That is not the point. The fact that it has been reported by reputable sources that he and his family were concerned enough about the OL and WR positions to even meet with Huepel and co lends validity to my OG question. It has also been reported that this meeting contributed to Matthews entering the portal.

You are really just trying to sound smart and get the last word in with the “appeals to authority…” bit, while overthinking the whole thing in the process. It’s not that deep. The point there is that a guy like Swain (who has more football knowledge than you and I and a hundred other posters on this board combined) is questioning the WR situation, and that lends validity to my OG question. Ramon Foster said NFL ppl are also questioning him about our WR development, also supporting the validity of my OG question.

Not sure what points I have ignored. But I do agree with certain points because I believe in Huepel and hope he does what it takes to fix the WR room. However, there are logical concerns. I think the whole situation has put Huepel in a tough spot, and I do not envy him.

I thought I had been pretty clear all along, but maybe not. Should you still feel that my original question was illogical handwringing, I hope the summary above helps. However, I imagine you might still attempt to rebut with anecdotal evidence about the movie Twister and word salad like “appeals to authority,” etc.

Anyhow, nice talking to you.

I think that one has some validity to it. AP has said we are going all in and swinging hard for the Branch brothers. Now he also said UGA is heavily involved as well. I don’t think it’s too crazy the idea that Heupel may target the WR coach as well to help get them. AP also said Nico and his dad are recruiting the Branch brothers.

I am not saying that it’s 100% correct. But from what AP has said, maybe this is what’s going on?

If they come with a WR coach then it’s an upgrade!!
Get it done
