I'm confused as to why you think a transfer WR will contribute year 1. There hasn't been 1 transfer or freshman WR to contribute in their 1st year. I think yall are setting yourselves up for disappointment. Unless CJH tweaks the offensive router audibles.
JaVonta Payton, Bru McCoy and Chris Brazzell and really Deonte Thorton were all year 1 transfer contributors

What I’ve heard from an agent friend:
- MM got bumped from $500k to $800k
- The receivers did not like Pope, leading to some of the transfer attrition
- Pope is out
- MM will return

That’s all I’ve heard
Let's assume the numbers are true. Those have to be total NIL package not a yearly number. Can't imagine that is an annual payout.

Bru McCoy caught 52 passes in his first year as a transfer. Squirrel caught 30 passes as a true freshman.

Technically, Heupel’s first year was the first for everyone. Velus Jones had 62 receptions, and Tillman had 64.

I will relay this, but take with a grain of salt as I am, ADMITTEDLY, just a normal dude from Knoxville, born and raised.

I work with a couple of guys who are very tight with some bigger name donors to the University who are big time business names in town. They relayed information to my colleague a couple of days ago that Miami did INFORMALLY reach out via “back channels” to Nico via the Mauigoa family. It was apparently more of a Mauigoa family reaching out to the Iamaleava family to express “hey it would be awesome to have our kids play together and Francis could be Nico’s blindside”. It was not official Miami officials or coaches but there was dialogue.

I know nothing other than that but take it with a grain as I’m once removed from actual source but I did read the text messages on the phone between colleague and big name donor
So all I hear is Mauigoa to Tennessee 😝

I had to look him up. He’s been with Lincoln Riley since OU, so you assume he and Heup have ties there. But he started at Texas Tech under Leach, who Heupel obviously had a relationship. Interesting.
USC has a bunch of WR's who has hit the portal. Maybe more then us. Curious why they are all leaving. I think two are in the top 10 transfers WR in Branch and Meadows.

Brazzell and Thornton were both huge disappointments. There is not 2nd year fix or whatever people like to parrot around here.

Bru Payton Tillman Velus all were good year 1 in the system. Hyatt just exploded and caused this trope.

Look I hate being the Debbie Downer here, but is the current state of affairs truly the idea that Heupel (a man who has proven to be excessively loyal) is firing Pope and, before pulling that trigger, has already agreed to hire another position coach just so he’ll bring along two transfers? That feels like an awfully huge stretch.

Believe he has a monster NIL deal at Carolina. Why else would he have gone there?

That only goes so far. Guys want to play and they want the ball.

That Mizzou edge got a fat bag during his recurring cycle. But he didn't play much as a freshman and bailed as soon as the season was over.

Harbor isn't being utilized very much and he's already going into year 3.

Bru didn’t contribute year 1?

The offensive route scheme is not that complicated. The route tree is more basic than it was under Golesh. Route adjustments we use are things like breaking off a go route into a hook if the receiver isn’t going to beat his man deep at 10 yards. High schools across the country are doing this and executing it effectively.

Our route scheme and coverage adjustments aren’t any more complicated than the next college offense. In fact, we’re probably on the more basic end of the spectrum.

A third year WR that was the #1 recruit in his class like Branch won’t have trouble catching on. Cordarelle Patterson didn’t know the playbook at all and he made a huge impact in year 1. We haven’t had a receiver with Branch’s talent yet under Josh.

He’d be a slam dunk.

Has worked with Dede Westbrook, Ceedee Lamb, Hollywood Brown, Jordan Addison, Marvin Mims, Sterling Sheppard, etc
Just wonder if someone reached out to gage interest? I don’t see Heupel firing Pope but adding staff like this guy is how you compete for championships.
