This offense is designed to use tempo, wide splits, and deep balls to spread out and confuse defenses, thus opening up basically anything we want to do. We basically had to move away from two of those--tempo and deep balls.

CJH saw it and made a pretty radical adjustment. We became a downhill running team that chewed clock and won ugly. (And people are claiming CJH didn't make any offensive adjustments.)
Spot on.

Lmao. Banks navigated a particularly bad SEC schedule, especially on the offensive side. We didn’t beat any good teams this year. When we did play good teams, we got exposed defensively.

Banks gets thoroughly outcoached when we play good offenses. I’d love to hear your defense of his gameplans vs Georgia, Ohio State, ‘23 Mizzou, ‘23 Bama, ‘23 Georgia, and most importantly South Carolina 2022. The Banks truthers seem to have forgotten all about those performances.
Lanning got outcoached. Sark likely gets outcoached next. Then Kirby or Freeman or whoever. Ohio state out talents all the remaining teams by a fairly large margin. Not only the talent but the experience of the starters on that roster is far and away more than any remaining team.

I think both of you are right. Kelly has the pieces to play with that nobody left does. If OSU stays healthy they destroy Texas who I think is the worst team that they will have played in the playoffs so far. Georgia, ND, nor PSU can score with them.

Our talent and development still isn’t there defensively, but it is getting somewhat better. We just started in a huge hole. LB play has been bad though. I am not sure if that is a product of players or scheme asking them to do things they were incapable of. AC7 was lost all year. Herring was the year before. We have been playing with one LB for two years running. Pili’s injury really hurt us. If the LBs can’t cover and neither can that we have to try and compensate elsewhere. At this level, a weakness can’t hide forever

Oh yeah...the Dline that disappears in essentially every big game? Coaching circles around Martinez...oh yeah
Ohio State entire gameplan was to attack behind the DL with the backs when they weren't lighting up the corners. More the LBs IMO. Omari saw a lot of double teams in that game and felt like they made it a point to neutralize him in a lot of spots. LBs were fooled and left in bad angles all game

Hubbs said he expects him in the portal tomorrow. Austin price has said once he goes in it’s unlikely he would be back. Just putting things together it seems like a forgone conclusion and has been for days.
Possibilities:
1. He was overrated or he would have played more.
2. Heupel ain’t the guy

Any other way to slice this?

Or he was injured and a freshman. More than a few posters thought Hyatt sucked until he didn’t.

Of course it is possible this was a joke and it flew over my head?

I got good vibes on Sunday midday, then all has went dark and seems like the vibes aren’t good right now.

Think we’ve started making plans to just go all in on the revamp.

I’ve heard very good vibes about ability to go spend big if needed.

Gonna be a big few weeks, my advise is to stay patient and not overreact, some of the fan gnashing teeth on X has hurt us. Then we see tonight OSU was really just a wagon right now.

We will get there!
Staying patient and not overreacting is what volnation does best 😅.

We just need to avoid the main page and the 500 threads about doom and gloom once it is official that Matthews is gone.

It's almost like the entire defense was exposed and played badly against OSU and for the most part against UGA too.

Y'all arguing about Garner and Martinez just want to argue and like the dopamine hit your brain gets when you get notifications that your posts are being interacted with. You aren't serious people.

LMAO. Nearly every single team got exposed by Ohio St. In 2021 when UGA had the "best defense of all time" they gave up 41 points to Bama in the SECCG.

Everyone has a bad game eventually. You were fooling yourself if you were expecting to dominate Ohio State and their stable of future 1st round WRs and 2 of the best RBs in the country. Just because Michigan did it in the biggest rivalry in College Football doesn't mean anything. Oregon got dominated just as badly as we did.

You think it was a coaching issue or a talent issue?

What I saw was LB and S that were outmatched

There was scheming to keep us slow in both games, lots of misdirection

But - to your point - we showed no pressure on either QB which then left our back end exposed against superior athletes

Boy, people will just say anything in an attempt to make themselves feel morally superior when they have a bad take.

Can't help but notice your whataboutism, but I'm bored and I'll humor you on the first two points. Not going to waste my time beating a dead horse on your other nonsense, since that was a different team/year/players and isn't germane to the conversation.

I like to make analogies, I find that they help to make the point. So say you have a road course race track. Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta, COTA, Watkins Glen, Spa, Imola, Nurburgring, etc.

Now say that you have a NASCAR driver, we'll use Chase Elliott since he's my favorite driver (and because I can't stand that little worm Larson). Chase is quite good at road courses as well. You put Chase in his Camaro on any of those courses, he's going to acquit himself pretty well and absolutely wring every second he can outta that car.

But, if you try and pit Chase Elliott in a head to head race against Lando Norris or Lewis Hamilton in their cars, it doesn't really matter a damn how many seconds Chase can wring outta his Chevy......because it's the equipment, not the driver.

That's your explanation for UGA/OSU. And before you ask "hurr durr what about Arkansas durr hurr", I was at that game. Took my wife to her first ever Vols game for that one. We showed up, the team never got off the damned bus. That wasn't just on Banks.
