The Alabama Crimson Tide already has two wide receivers committed in the 2024 class, so where does Amari Jefferson fall on Nick Saban's wish list?

Dug this up from an old article since a lot of people seem skeptical about Jefferson.

And then Ryan Williams reclassified and became their "difference maker" on the field. Saban did this kid dirty in a lot of ways. DeBoer didn't even play him this year. Keep Matthews and bring in Jefferson and we have a talented young receiving corp.

Nobody knows. The “insiders” post comments after reading info from volquest or listening to a podcast. All others are like me and speculate.

IMO, Matthews is gone &we are looking for 2-3 receivers from the portal.

Edit- I was WRONG about Matthews leaving. Glad he isn’t.

Jefferson was in the same recruiting class as MM and is also a bright young talent. We all wanted him badly out of high school, just like we wanted Matthews.

In short, we were excited about Matthews because of what he did in high school, not what he did as a freshman (basically nothing). And yet, we were excited about the possibility of Jefferson out of high school…but now we’re not because he didn’t do anything as a freshman. That’s weird.

So is MM a big pickup for another team? They both have one year of college ball and neither made a difference in the W-L column. Jefferson wants to be here and MM is on the fence. There probably is some hurt feelings in this whole situation and I want MM here but he can’t help unless he is 100% here for the right reasons.

He is more than a depth piece. I think he will be a starter.

He also showed out at US Army All American Bowl practice, and at game. Saban personally recruited him.

That said, our depth, or lack thereof at that postion scares the bejesus out of me.

I mean Matthews should have been the only surprise. It was an underperforming position. We should’ve bare minimum had feelers out to see who was interested.

Heupel is a great coach and I’m not sure anyone could do better than he has in the past four years but you’ve got to have an idea of where every position group is. How is he surprised that morale was that bad in that group?

No idea what we are doing at the position. Had weeks to find WRs but sat on our hands because apparently there was a time until Squirrel left that they thought they were good at WR lol.

No idea how Heupel can’t see this is on the position coach.

Makes it sound like our coaches were caught with their pants down. Not what we've been told about them having a "strategy".

Still feels like there's a lot to the story we're not hearing. This offseason, thus far, has been strange. I get we needed to shed numbers to make room, but I doubt the plan was to clear the WR room to do that.
