Better use of money: $9.99 monthly for AP non-news or $9.99 monthly for PFF subscription for current and prospective players and still no news.

Not like I’m going to pay for either but I thought it was an interesting question for those really trying to go deep in the Vols intel space.

Maybe it’s just the staff going cold on him? Maybe this is an effect of NIL? I feel like we used to see better nuggets. But he’s been wrong or misinformed or we’ve had a lot of 18 year olds change their mind on us last minute, feels like especially so over the last 2 years. I’m not sure who to give the benefit of the doubt to.

I know a lot will say something about the level of competition he’s been playing against. But from what several videos I watched, seems to be pretty decent to my untrained evaluating eyes. But has put up pretty decent numbers the past few games in the FCS championship playoffs. Shows this to be his junior year. But only has stats basically from this year. Had 1 catch for 7 yards last year. But could probably be a sneaky, under the radar, decently priced 1-2 year player. Just probably needs to add 10-20 pounds.

I’m not disputing that. I was responding to a poster claiming we won’t rush for 2,500 yards again next season unless our OL significantly improves. We rushed for almost 3,000 this season with what many considered to be a below average OL.

In instances like this, I wonder if AP and VQ in general are told directly by people at UT not to put names out there so it doesn't become public who they're targeting and reaching out to till things have progressed to a certain point? Everything I've ever head is that Heupel is pretty secretive/plays things close to the vest, even by CFB head coach standards.

It probably isn't the case, but it's at least worth considering. VQ has had their head up UT's a** for so long and have been a mouthpiece for them for years, so it wouldn't shock me if something like this is the case.

Either way, AP and the rest of VQ have a significant attitude and entitlement problem.

It does create a conflict for Hubbs who works for the Vol Network and run VQ.

That’s arguably one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen from a beat writer. If I’m the VQ brass, he’s in my office tomorrow. Absolutely no way do you post that for paying customers and expect it to be acceptable. For starters, he’s not doing his job. Your job is to report the news, period. If you don’t like the pushback you receive, then find another job. But most importantly, this is such a terrible way of saying “I have no clue what’s happening so I’ll just make something up and either way, I appear right.” I’m indifferent on AP, but this one is terrible.

Mac should have dropped. If you saw him play, he’s not a 5*. He has a lot of talent and upside, but he has some work to do in terms off field vision and decision making.

If that’s how you take it, sure. But any qualified journalist wouldn’t have made that post at all. And the fact he did then words it like that, that screams incompetence to me. I’m not bashing AP as an insider, and I’ve honestly never had a problem with him, but I am bashing him in terms of making that post while also claiming he’s a reporter.

Again, if we're talking too guys not in the portal currently, then he isn't gonna comment on that.

Also, I am not sure what it good it does to list names of players that either have shown interest in coming here but we aren't pursuing hard (like Benson) or a player that we are interested in but isn't showing much interest in us (like Branch).

If there's dialogue between us and a player currently in the portal and both sides are showing interest, then AP should be posting that info (and he probably would). Otherwise, I am not sure what you guys are expecting.

1. That actually isn't the case. The Thompson kid is clear evidence that we thought we had a kid in the bag until he was predicted here and LSU panicked because they thought they would get a visit before he committed.

There's random insiders that drive by all the time to drop information. Being on here for 5+ years, there’s been multiple instances where someone will drop a nug, then AP/Hubbs confirms it.
