He’s a possession receiver. If Bru comes back, how does that affect Mike Matthews’ usage? Matthews has the explosiveness and speed that the receiver room has been missing the past couple of years.Anyone not wanting Bru back is insane. I don’t care what his stats say this past year, he’s by far the best WR we have on the roster. He does things the common fan don’t realize at a high level. Of course he wasn’t the same after injury but maybe he can be with another year.
That bigger WR from Boise interest me. Wonder if we’ve reached out to him.
I used BSU in my NCAA play through and he’s an absolute monster
No one knows, but the math points to him coming back. He did not get good feedback on the draft, he’s been told he’ll be ok on eligibility. His choices seem to be come back or learn the dulcimer.
Not counting Boo’s scholarship towards the WR group, that puts us at 8.If Bru comes back, you have
Bru
MM
Staley
Brazzell
AJ
Boo (part-time)
Smith
Dodson
Jackson
Would Bru even need to be on scholarship? He’s got to be a graduate at this point right?I think a good possession receiver is important in this offense. I think his best attributes have always been his size and strength. He’s not a YAC superhero, but he turned a lot of those 40yd lateral screens into gainers. He’s a great downfield blocker. He reads the qb and break off routes which is essential in this offense and more so with a mediocre pass blocking line. I agree with you that a hobbled version of him doesn’t get us there. Spots are too precious. If he gets back to close to a 100%, I’ve always liked what he brings to the room.
Yeah, just waiting for Heupel to call a VN vote on the matter. Not counting Boo’s scholarship towards the WR group, that puts us at 8.
How many are we going to carry? 9?
Can you get a better # 8 or 9 WR on the roster than Bru?
Idk.
If you can - maybe it’s time to move on.
If you can’t - seems he could provide value.
He could beat man coverage his first year. I went to the Pitt game that year, and he scored on a long play. He caught 5 for 102 against UF and 7 for 140 against LSU.Bru is a fine possession receiver. Not sure he ever was more than that, and post-injury, I highly doubt he's ever more than that. I kind of felt like Amari Jefferson might have been the direct replacement for Bru.
I don’t think he would stay to be 8/9. I certainly would t if I weee him. That indicates he’s passing on the NFL and I think he still intends to try to be on an NFL roster for a few years if he can. But he might stay to be 3/4 and I think that would still be worth it, if for no other reason than his dependability and leadership. Not counting Boo’s scholarship towards the WR group, that puts us at 8.

Kind of like him hanging out with MM as well, hopefully that attitude gets taken up by Mike as well.Bru has that Jauan Jennings mentality. He's that type of player. When you hit him, he's gonna hit you back. He's going to fight for every yard. He may not be a speedster, but he's going to give you everything he has. Teams need players like that to set the example.

MM X1/Slot/Z1 Need to try to realize his potential and feature him. Rotate him for mismatches. If you don’t do this, not sure why you tried to get him to stay.
Transfer?? Could shake things up. Would love a splash transfer. Good problem to have.
Bru X1/X2
Brazzell Z1/Z2
Stayley/Jefferson Slot 2
Jackson X3 Possible RS candidate
Travis Smith Z3
Dodson Reserve Slot and RS candidate
If we don’t get a splash transfer I think that’s what it looks like. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Travis Smith pushes for playing time as a freshman. Dude is a baller and mismatch against everyone (at least at the hs level he was). His size alone might put him in better position to contribute early than MM was.
I just enjoy seeing him catch a slant and dragging defenders for 7-10 yards. I would personally like to have that option again.
I would, too, but I'm just not certain he'll reach that 2022 version of himself post-injury. I'm not saying "No way!" to his return. Just saying I'm indifferent to him winning his appeal in terms of his effect on our team in 2025. I'd love to see him get redemption, honestly, and be his old self.He could beat man coverage his first year. I went to the Pitt game that year, and he scored on a long play.
