'25 Portal Thread

Argue semantics all you like. The likelihood we take a portal player that we would expect to start over Sanders is extremely slim. Part of the reason Sanders committed was the path to a starting role.
I’m not arguing. You stated something as fact that wasn’t, we call it a lie. That’s how rumors start. Rumors by fans are what almost cost us Matthews. However silly it may seem, players these days pay attention to social media. That’s an actual report by Austin Price and 3 insiders on this board. No reason to believe someone on the roster now who actually plays RT (Warren, Perry) wouldn’t start over a freshman who plays LT

That's fair.

We have a few more immediate needs from porthole. And while we'd love to have it right meow, I do think there is still thyme. Doubt staff is overreacting, like much of us.

They're going after bone and fide starters. Pregno wouldve played D1. Lets go get the best, butt let's everyone take a step back.

You left lurking for that? ;)

With Arch at QB and Texas' ability to pay Wingo whatever he wants, yeah it's super unlikely he leaves. Arch is the odds on favorite to win the Heisman.
This can't be accurate. He wasn't good enough to beat out Ewers in either of the past two years. He must be a bust at this point and his QB coach is clearly terrible at developing players.

Yes, I completely agree. And if we already have arrangements with another OL and a "splash" WR then we probably only have a certain amount of money to offer Pregnon and evidently it wasn't what we thought he was worth and not likely worth losing whoever it is we supposedly have plans on landing. Fwiw!

I noticed the list of "Big Donors" only included Peyton Manning as someone who has played at UT and donates lots of money. What about all the other VFLs out there who have made it big? We have numerous players who have made it to the MLB, NBA, and NFL. Why aren't they supporting Tennessee athletics?? Or maybe they are but just not as much as some of the others. Just thought with as many athletes who have come from TN that there would be a few more athletes on that list, imo.
Several do their share.

Everyone praying for an insider post is kind of entertaining. The sky is definitely falling. I love it when we all panic together.

I mean that's great, but it doesn't make the roster any better going into next year. You just maintained status quo.
Not exactly. It gets you another year with Joshua Josephs. It gets Jordan Ross and Caleb Herring on the field. It gets Tyre West in a starting position. We get Jourdan Thomas back at safety. It gets young WR's playing time.

Since the beginning of time, players have developed over years, yet we have some who think our guys can't. They also complain when our recruiting classes are bad. VN never changes.

I truly don't know how anyone can sit there and tell themselves they expect the WRs and OL to make big jumps with Pope & Elarbee.

I noticed you mostly rattled off guys who are coached by the one guy on staff who has shown he can develop players.

For everyone who is stressed out over the transfer portal as of right now and how we are gonna look next year, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, Tennessee has the 8th best odds to win the national championship next year. With that being said, I'd love to have the BEST odds to win it all, but I'll take the 8th best odds to win it all next year especially considering where we were just a few years ago. And also, AP has said that he still thinks we add a couple of transfers going down the home stretch of the transfer window. Which lines up with what the insiders continue to tell us fans about signing a couple more players. We are gonna be just fine!!

The same way the secondary got better when we put better players on the field would be my guess.

So evidently there's quite a few people out there who believe in Tennessee and our chances. That's the best odds we have had in a while. Last year we had the 16th best odds and the year before we had the 12th best odds to win the national championship. So that has to say something. Whether we live up to it is yet to be seen, but it's not all bad on Rocky Top and with Nico having a year under his belt now I truly believe he is gonna be much improved all around next year and our young OL and WR will flourish. Look at Ohio State, they lost 2-3 starters toward the end of the year and they plugged in some young guys and now they are playing better than anyone in the country and that's not even debatable.
