WR routes. Many times tempo. Look at Kelly’s history of calling plays. At Oregon he ran high tempo.
They run way more routes, splits are no where near the same, they have way more motions and everyone runs with some tempo now. But Tennessee runs way more tempo than they do. The only similarities I see are the basic routes that everyone runs

My preference is for our guys-MM, Staley, Boo, etc to grow up (like Hyatt) and ball-out. Let’s use NIL to retain and develop but that’s just my opinion. But I get the excitement about “splash” players, so I’ll play along (even tho our splash imports haven’t exactly set the world on fire).
So we wait the whole transfer window out on one player who 1) big-timed us during his HS recruitment 2) has one of the best WR coaches and OCs in college football 3) stands to get more touches next year 4) plays for the biggest NIL budget in the game, and 5) just won a natty.
That’s who we were waiting on??
Let me guess? He got a raise. Shocker.
Worth a shot?? Sure. Why not. But let’s be real, move on and get to work coaching the guys we have.

To the tempo piece:

OSU was ranked 119/134 in seconds per play this season.

Vols were slower this season than previous but still ranked 21/134.

All true. However how do you know Hartline wouldn’t bring his own wrinkles to Heupels system? Remember Golesh came from Iowa State. They didn’t run tempo. And he learned under Heupel. Hartline has been under some really good OCs. I mean do not think he couldn’t adapt to Heupels system? If not, why?

Do you honestly think Hartline could be any worse than Halze? Also factor in that Hartline would easily be our best recruiter from day 1. Sorry but I see zero negatives in trying to get someone like Hartline.

Heupel isn't going to replace Halzle with Hartline, and Hartline isn't leaving his alma mater for a lateral move. You can speculate all you want about how great it would be, but it's not something that is going to actually happen. You're talking to air.

Gonna have some excuse as to why it didn’t happen
Tate flirted with us all the way up till signing day if u remember correctly. Could see his people reaching back out. I just couldn’t ever see him really coming here though, imo. If we were banking on him as a splash player well that’s a bit out there.
