Yes. This year’s Spring is going to be a bit more cutthroat all over. We do not have the luxury of keeping guys who can’t get on the field at Safety. I can see one or two guys leaving if they don’t make big leaps. The shopping list is the same as it was three weeks ago. Any hole we haven’t filled is still a place we need help.

Maybe not direct posts only because they couldn't put that info out there unless he entered the portal but there were several subtle hints and indications that it was Tate we were targeting, especially yesterday. Just had to look for them. Some were easier to tell than others.

Do you have any indication that any of our "main guys" will try to enter the portal given that most have signed new deals? I know you can never say never, but do you see anyone leaving that is a day one starter?

So are you talking about us finding a safety in the Spring portal, or you think we're pursuing one now? If we're pursuing one now, I have to assume they're not in the portal yet given there's not much there of quality. And there's not much time left to enter the portal.

It’s a bit of a branching narrative. There are two safeties that we’ve talked to that could come before Spring depending on a potential coaching change (head coach). I think this is getting less likely as nothing has happened and it’s getting harder to meet class/drop add deadlines. Separately there are guys we have our eyes on post Spring. There’s a chance we stand pat if some younger guys have a great Spring, but I can’t imagine a scenario where we don’t add someone with the potential to upgrade there.

No worries. I’m passionate about the Vols and sure you are, too.

IMO we still need help in the WR room along with LB and DB (esp safety). I don’t think it is overpaying if Heup tells Spyre “player A” will make a huge impact on offense. It’s all relative to need.

Funny you mention safety as that is the one position needing an upgrade. Who was our last elite safety?

They did not want them all to go but was not and is not the end of the world. I think White for the right price was ok but not for what he wanted. So with what it would take to keep them, it was fine to let them hit the door. Nimrod had all the talent in the world and he was not trusted any longer. He could have earned it back but his playing time dropped a ton after too many drops.

Don’t play dumb . It’s common knowledge on here and yes someone did point directly to Tate.
