I've got Shaw a good bit below Thomas. Right next to Jaxson Moi in my rankings.

That's assuming he makes the team, yearly there's players drafted late that are lucky to make the practice squad, let alone the 53 man roster. There's no guaranteed money in the NFL either, he can be cut on a whim and walk with only his signing bonus.

All of this makes sense and is how it works now.

Carter got a freshman deal and then balled out. He's probably fielding bigtime offers. I assume we're prepared.

McCoy got a deal that reflected one season of solid work in the P10. He's now arguably the top returning CB in the country next season. I assume we're prepared.

Sampson is likely getting draft feedback that reflects a guaranteed amount of money that's not beyond the realm of possibility for us to pay. Does it mean we'll come to an agreed upon amount when both sides weigh the pros, cons, and opportunity costs? Not necessarily, but it could absolutely happen. At which point at least one of our existing RBs will likely hit the portal, too.

This is the current world of P5 college football. Guys like theses got deals then balled out and are going to get better deals either with us or somewhere else. Guys like Matthews got a deal on HS potential and didn’t ball out. Now he’s looking for another team. It’s become a cutthroat system

College football is a freaking clown show. And people made fun of Saban for retiring. lol. Imagine having to deal with diva crap like this every year.

Imagine making $10 million a year!

Our situation and LSU's are dissimilar. I guess you don't follow LSU very closely. They will not replace these departing players with players of the same caliber. Hence, why I pointed it out. They don't have our NIL funds.

Sounds good but schools paid players under the table before. They’d do it again.

Might as well just leave it as is and the market will eventually settle
