No offense to the kid, but the staff probably would hit decline on the call lol
Rumors last year were that Lang had surpassed Addison on the depth chart already and now with Satterwhite overtaking Lang causing him to leave doubtful the staff would think of him as a starter.

Would though be like Elarbee to bring in a transfer to start at center given his history here at Tennessee.

If we get him, though, does Satterwhite consider exiting? Think I’d go with a promising young guy like Satterwhite over Nichols who kind of is at that point of his career where he likely is what he is. Not a bad player by any means but think I’d take my chances with Satterwhite if it came down to one or the other.
Yup. Nichols had a really good year at Arkansas, one of the better centers in the conference.

But bringing back a guy who wanted out? Nah…

One of the most crucial positions on the field. I would bring him back without hesitation. Kid isn’t a cancer and got stuck behind one of the best centers in college football. He basically just went to get OJT.

That would be a terrible decision for Heupel to make.

A kid who left when things didn’t go his way, comes back after starting at another place- while the guy you’ve been grooming is waiting to play- then is told to sit another 2 years???

No.

Hell no.

Tennessee didn’t get to the college football playoffs by making crappy decisions like that.
Locker room cancers aside, players want to play with the best players possible. I doubt that many had hurt feelings when Nicholson left.

Wasn't the narrative surrounding Nichols, his desire to actually play the sport? No idea if there was truth to that, but I seem to recall that being the case.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Nichols, but only if we thought Satterwhite was just as good at a G spot. Satterwhite has earned his chance to start, imo. And bringing back Nichols to start over him at C would be a bad look, imo.

Yes, that was the issue. He wasn't behind Lang at center like someone else mentioned because they had moved him to guard in hopes that he would win that LG spot over Karic, but he never made much of a push. They liked his physical ability and he absolutely wasn't a cancer on the team...he was just one of those guys that liked playing football like it was a hobby but wasn't totally dedicated to it. I get not wanting him to come back, but if the coaches want him then that's good enough. He's talented enough to start at guard and knows the offense. He would also be the guy who could tell teammates that the grass isn't always greener elsewhere.

Satterwhite is the center. Nichols would compete at guard and be the backup center if he came back.

I need to go hang around the football complex and beg for insider information.

I wonder how long I'd last before they had me removed from the premises?
Depends on who you see when you walk in.

When I was at UTK, I’d walk all through the complexes, but my buddy was an intern for the media relations department and I was always with him, so that could be it.

Just don’t be typical Weezer and you should be fine.

Just curious where we are on the portal? I haven’t heard any booms and it seems slower than last year’s portal pickings. Or am I mistaken?
last year we were slow too. people were freaking out about how few we took. I don't think we had any transfers in announced before the bowl game, they all came after. Brazzel happened in the new year, and people were really freaking out about LT because we got Heard pretty much the last day of the portal.

I think the coaching staff is focused on the playoffs. Wants to see who all transfers out or declares before they go shopping. and probably want to see what the 22 early enrollees look like as well.

I love this fan base.

half of us want to run Elarbee out because he can't develop the guys we have.
the other half want to run Elarbee out because he isn't bringing in transfers to instantly start.

It seemed like they would let you in if practice or something else wasn't going on. I never did try to open any shut doors, and never got asked to leave. but this was the Dooley era and "opportunity was nowhere"

I think as long as you’re respectful and not snooping around, you’ll be fine. If that was the case, they would have security just sitting at the door.

yeah I got to walk on the practice field, including the checkerboard endzone. Thinking back I think it was only half a field at the time. because I remember some players coming on the field and I left so I wasn't in the way.

Cancer for that lockerroom even if he’s not a cancer. The guy left the team for another. You’ve got guys that stuck around and you’re going to pass them up and you don’t see the issue that would cause?
