'25 Portal Thread

Not sure I understand not taking a WR. That would mean they are comfortable going into next year with 7 WR and 5 of them being FR or RS FR.

As of now, I believe this is what will have next year. So after 2025 you have 5 scholarship WRs if Brazzell does not come back. Out of these 7 only 3 have stepped on the field. Seems impossible we won't add someone to this group.

Squirrel White - Senior
Chris Brazzell- Red Shirt Junior
Matthews - Sophomore
Staley - Red Shirt Freshman **
Travis Smith - True Freshman EE **
Radarius Jackson - True Freshman EE **
Joakim Dodson - True Freshman - Summer **

We dont need Edges or strongside DEs. We are loaded at both. We need Defensive Tackles and Guards on offense. A top shelf Safety wouldnt hurt either.
It's been noted that what we see as needs, the coaches do not. But I agree with your assessment. I'd also add at least one experienced WR, and if Seldon does hit the portal, another RB. But a lot goes into these decisions for coaches. They have to consider fit, how many roster spots they have to work with, how it will affect the guys we already have in terms of them deciding to portal.... It would be cool to see all the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes on.

I would expect 2 transfers in, another big body guy like Bru and then another Homerun hitter. We do not need to get into what Oklahoma was doing having 5 guys injured after our game this year. Especially another year for Nico to get better, he needs a deep group of wr.

Their QB just isn’t that good.
Their RBs are.
Their WRs are.
Their OL sucks.
Their D is pretty stacked.

It’ll be the most high-end talent we play this year. Pure match up wise for what they do well and what we do well, it’s not a bad one for us for how talented they are. If we can run the ball, stop the run and get pressure.. I really like where we are.

The one wildcard is where are they from a mental standpoint? They looked broken against Michigan. If they come out like that, could this spiral? I really think so.

So all in, if we’re not able to get home and they can run the ball, this could be a rough one given how talented they are. But if their team is mentally at all like their fan base is or how they looked against Michigan, I like where we are.
Looks to me like Day is overlooking us. Maybe the team is, as well.
