Possible New Player for 2010- LSU Signee, OG Elliott Porter

Is there no penalty for LSU telling this kid, who's already on campus, "Tough luck, loser. Because we irresponsibly signed more players than we have scholarships for and because some neanderthals managed to work the system and get cleared by the NCAA there's no room for you"?

No idea. Would be interesting to see.

Careful, UT may be in this same boat next week if all 4 of our yet to qualify guys make it - we only have 2 spots on the roster left

Wouldn't be as big of a deal if players were allowed to leave as easily as coaches are able to dismiss them.

if NCAA ever does anything in regards to this, likely would be a loss of scholarship(s). This goes on everywhere though and is likely why they won't do anything. Heck, we are in exact same position right now. Dooley is hoping all 4 of those kids don't get eligible so he doesn't have to do something.

I agree. If only 2 schollies are really left, Brown and Loften are far and away more important than Porter. That's not even debatable. I hope going after him isn't a sign that they've all but given up hope on one or both of them making it. Those would be terrible blows.

It's possibly that porter would actually be considered a transfer since he has worked out with the team, and possibly a part time summer student.

I can't see bumping a guy that's already on campus taking classes for a guy that qualifies tomorrow. We aren't in a position where that will happen, are we?

That's what I was wondering. He worked out with the team, and I'm guessing was enrolled at LSU.

I could see why this kid would feel slighted if he was already enrolled as a part time student then asked to grey shirt. That is really wrong.

So John Brown is going to be a long shot, if we dont have him or hughes we will be screwed at dtackle, it would be awesome to have both....

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure Dooley has a good handle on things. If he is showing interest in Porter, I would bet most anything that he already knows that 3 of the remaining 4 kids are not going to make it. My guess is that M Jackson makes it and Brown, Lofton and Dixon don't. Means maybe we get Porter and maybe we don't.

Don't be surprised if Porter ends up doing the gray shirt at LSU. Hometown kid. Grew up a Tiger.. by end of week the initial shock wears off and he likely follows his heart. PLUS, Mom and Dad are there. that will be the hard things to over come.

just guessing...

You may be right ... but he's not quite a hometown kid, being from New Orleans and not Baton Rouge. That's a bit like saying a Memphis guy is a hometown kid for the Vols. We'll see.

I thought Loften had already been cleared back several weeks ago???

GBO!!!!!!!

Sorry to ask, I have been here for two years and I still don't know.

What does GBO mean?

I know IMO is In my opinion, TOS is The other site(s), GTFO is pretty simple.... but this GBO is tricky.

I am in the military so I am used to acronyms but any help would be appreciated.

Maybe there's a thread explaining all of the acronyms?

Thanks...:good!:

NO 60 miles from BR, Memphis 365 miles from Knoxville...

Atlanta is more hometown to Vols than Memphis...

distance is why Tennessee has struggled so much in Memphis. There 7 other SEC schools closer to Memphis than Knoxville.

I live close to and work in memphis. There are more UT fans than memphis fans here, especially when it comes to football. Lots of people are memphis basketball fans and UT football fans. So by FAR kids here consider UT home. Definetely way more than ole miss or arkansas or any other SEC teams that are closer.

maybe i have just been gone too long from tennessee to remember but here in texas this isnt an issue. austin is in the middle yes but texas is huge. kids from all over the state (further away from austin than memphis is from knoxville) and they have no problem with that.

i guess its just a different world here
